Remember That Time Biden Threatened To Filibuster A Qualified Black Female SCOTUS Nominee?

Joe Biden nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court based entirely on her skin color and vagina ownership. As it turns out, those are her only qualifications because judicially, she’s a nightmare. As the democrats prepare to accuse Republicans of racism and misogyny for scrutinizing Jackson’s record, let’s remember that time when then-Senator Biden threatened to filibuster a qualified black woman SCOTUS nominee.

Back in 2005, Sandra Day O’Connor, the first female SCOTUS Justice, announced her retirement and then-President George W. Bush considered nominating Janice Rogers Brown. Brown was a  Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, which is where SCOTUS picks usually come from, and was eminently qualified. She was however a bit conservative and Senator Biden, head of the Judiciary Committee, wasn’t having it:

If you watch the video, you’ll notice that Biden got Brown’s name wrong, indicating his cognitive decline has been going on for quite some time. After saying he would never filibuster a SCOTUS nominee, Biden immediately said if Bush nominated Brown he would filibuster her nomination.

Think about that for a second: Joe Biden, who calls the filibuster a “relic of Jim Crow” and wants to get rid of it, once threatened to filibuster a black woman’s nomination to the highest court in the land. It’s hard to be that full of shit, but Biden pulls it off time and time again.

Due to political pressure from Biden and the Senate democrats, Bush decided not to nominate Brown and instead put up Samuel Alito, who was confirmed. Biden said no to black woman but yes to a white man.

Weirdly enough, even The Washington Post took note of Biden’s racist hypocrisy:

What Biden threatened was unprecedented. There has never been a successful filibuster of a nominee for associate justice in the history of the republic. Biden wanted to make a Black woman the first in history to have her nomination killed by filibuster. Bush eventually nominated Samuel A. Alito Jr.

Democrats’ commitment to diversity is a ruse. Biden was willing to destroy the careers of an accomplished Latino lawyer [Miguel Estrada] and a respected Black female judge, and stop Republicans from putting either on the Supreme Court. For Democrats, it’s all about identity politics. Indeed, Biden might not have become president had he not made the pledge to nominate a Black woman. That promise helped secure the endorsement of Rep. James E. Clyburn (D-S.C.) — which won Biden the South Carolina primary and rescued his faltering campaign.

So, when Biden tries to bask in the glory of his historic nomination, remember Janice Rogers Brown — the Black woman who does not sit on the Supreme Court today because of Biden’s disgraceful obstruction.

Janice Rogers Brown would have been the first black woman on the Supreme Court but she wasn’t because of Joe Biden. Now he’s bragging about nominating the first black woman for the Supreme Court, like he’s the white savior of all oppressed minorities.
