There Is A Question Both The Right & Left Are Asking After The Texas Shooting & It’s A Valid Question

There is A LOT of rhetoric flying around the internet surrounding the heartbreaking shooting that took place at the Robb Elementary School in Texas.

However, there is one question that some on the left and right are asking and it is a good question.

Why are young men shooting up public places?

Conservative commentator Glenn Beck and The Atlantic writer Tom Nichols, who in his earlier life saw himself as a conservative warrior and has since left the Republican Party, separately asked the same question.

Nichols noted that “guns didn’t change. There used to be machine guns in America. Lots of other weapons. Stuff guys brought home from various wars. And yet, *young men shooting up public places* was not a constant.”

He continued:

This should raise the suspicion of a logical person that if there were always plenty of guns, plenty of mental illness (more untreated in earlier times) and plenty of racism (more than in the 21st century), maybe something else is going on.

And it’s especially suspicious that this *particular* type of incident is becoming more common even as crime is going *down*.

Worse, something that was a primarily weird white kid phenom is starting to branch out to young guys of other races.

In other words, this is a problem with young men in general, not like the democrat talking point used after the Buffalo massacre.

Beck asked the same question and during a segment pondered if:

[T]here’s nothing more dangerous than a man with nothing to live for and nothing to do.

Meaninglessness, purposelessness, Godlessness.

What these two personalities of opposite political persuasion have identified just might be worth looking into.

Will our elected leaders reach this same conclusion? Likely not.
