Results of In-Depth Study: Cannabis Use Increases Vehicle Crash Fatalities While Schumer Calls Prohibition on Marijuana “Racist”

Traffic statistics were compared between states that had legalized marijuana use and those states that kept restrictions on the drug. Also, data from 2009 were compared to data from 2019.

This from 100percentfedup.com.

Charles Farmer, the lead researcher on this vehicle crash study, said:

The legalization of marijuana doesn’t come without a cost.

Point taken: The legalization of marijuana made the drug readily available, and unsurprisingly the result has been an increase in less-attentive drivers operating motor vehicles under the influence of a mood-altering (intoxicating) chemical.

Note: Intoxicated drivers have slower reaction times and less tendency to stay in their lanes.

The five named states—California, Colorado, Nevada, Washington, and Oregon—experienced an increase of 4.1% in fatal crashes. Colorado, the highest, saw a 17.8% leap in crash injuries, and California, for example, a 5.7% increase in vehicle crash injuries.

And the one concerning statistic identified in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s study of increased vehicle crashes: The states which fully legalized cannabis and which have had numerous “pot shops” open have experienced an increase in intoxicated-driver crashes.

Note: In subject states, vehicle crash injuries increased by 5.8% according to the Daily Mail.

At the same time, ultra-liberal progressive democrat Senator Chuck Schumer has announced a bill to decriminalize marijuana at the federal level rather than letting states decide at a more local level.

Schumer, the enemy of Conservatism, likens restricting drugs to a “war on people” and in typical democrat fashion calls it racist.

Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), representing a bastion of liberal idiocy, echoed Schumer saying the federal laws prohibiting cannabis are “harmful and out of touch.”

It is worth noting here, that the harmful statistic connected with Cannabis is not prohibition, but rather that users are 22 percent more likely to end up in a hospital emergency room than non-users.

Democrats as usual seek to make every contentious issue a social experiment. And their legislated “experiments,” in general, always end problematically and demand further legislation to rectify worse problems, which, of course, creates further problems, etc., etc.

Suffice to say, Use or non-use of and whether to legalize marijuana use or not, do not belong in the same breath as the words ‘racist’ and ‘racism.’

The decriminalization of marijuana at the federal level will quickly prove to be another democrat catastrophic social experiment that will end in untold accidental deaths and injuries and further destruction of our American culture.

Note: The legalization of marijuana is another democrat tool aimed at bringing America to its knees.

Final thought: Conservatism can be exhibited in many ways and degrees thereof. People may demonstrate Conservatism politically, culturally, and/or socially. It is possible for a person to be politically Conservative but not socially or culturally conservative.

An example of the latter would be an individual espousing political Conservatism and with similar gusto espousing the legalization of marijuana.

This writer being politically, culturally, and socially conservative does not believe the legalization of marijuana can be viewed as being anything but socially and culturally counter-conservative.

Now, as the meme reads, ‘Change my mind.’

Clarification: The practicality of marijuana for medical use is not at all part of this article. That discussion must wait for another day.
