This video of an ATF agent getting arrested after he tried to confiscate guns is from 2 years ago and it blows my mind how I missed it. A friend showed me the video a couple of days ago and now it’s blowing up on social media, so let’s just enjoy the pure hilarity of it and not worry too much about how dated it is.
To set the scene, Agent James Burk with the the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms showed up to a house in Columbus, Ohio on July 7, 2020 to confiscate a shotgun from someone who was reportedly not allowed to have it. This seems like a state police issue, not a federal one, but whatever.
The person inside the home refused to open the door and instead called the police. The person read the 9-11 dispatcher Burk’s badge number and was told to not open the door for him. The dispatcher said police were on the way and presumably the understanding was that there was a guy pretending to be a federal agent who was trying to steal guns.
Here’s what happened when the cops showed up:
An ATF agent showed up at a citizen’s home to question him about a shotgun he was not “permitted” to have.
The citizen called 911 and told them someone was at his door trying to take his guns.

When the first cop showed up, Burk refused several times to get on the ground as commanded. You’d think as a federal agent, he’d understand the seriousness of having a gun pointed at him and simply comply. Then again, the feds are real assholes.
The cop explained that they got a call about someone impersonating a federal agent and they needed to secure him to sort things out. Despite the reasonable request, Burk continued to be defiant, saying he wasn’t getting on the ground.
When the second cop showed up, Burk finally got down but not without a funny exchange:
“You guys are making a big mistake,” said Burk.
“You’re the one making a mistake,” respond the officer.
And the hilarity kept coming. Burk fought with the officer trying to cuff him.
“Don’t do this, I got a medical condition,” said Burk as he resisted arrest.
The cops continued to try to place Burk in cuffs.
“Hold on, I’m hyperventilating,” Burk said.
Was that the white privilege version of George Floyd’s “I can’t breath” line?
The funniest thing was when Burk tried to get out being arrested by saying, “My wife is pregnant, please.”
When one office told the other to get his Taser, Burk responded, “No, don’t do that.”
Knowing that he was about to be Tased, Burk kept fighting. Once the electricity started flowing, Burk eventually complied.
Burk is reportedly suing the Columbus police department claiming they used excessive force. Hopefully they’ll play this video in the trail because it shows an appropriate amount of force being used to take a combative asshole into custody.
I think gun-grabbing democrats ought to watch the video too, just to see how realistic it’s going to be to confiscate hundreds of millions of firearms in private hands.
