Liz Cheney just got spanked in the Wyoming Republican primary and will no longer be the state’s Representative. After losing by 37 points to Trump-backed Harriet Hageman, Cheney feels the next logical step is the White House. Darth Vader’s daughter says she is thinking about running for president to keep Donald Trump from winning.
In her concession speech, which she gave about 2 minutes after voting began, Cheney said her “fight is not over” and compared herself to Abraham Lincoln who became president after losing bids in the House and Senate. This was an obvious signal that she intends to run for president in 2024.
Just hours after her defeat, Cheney tried to solidify her Republican cred by crying to the liberal media:

NBC anchor Savannah Guthrie asked Cheney point blank if she was going to run for president. Instead of answering the question, Cheney bashed the Republican Party:
“We’ve now got one major political party, my party, which is really become a cult of personality and we’ve got to get this party back to a place where we are embracing the values and the principals on which it was founded,” said Cheney.
In other words, Cheney is saying that all Republicans, except her, and all Republican voters lack values and principals. It’s hard to image how she lost, isn’t it?
Guthrie interrupted Cheney’s rant to try to get her to answer the damn question.
“I will do whatever it takes to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office,” Cheney said.
That seems like a yes, but Cheney further explained.
“That’s a decision that I’m going to make in the coming months, and I’m not going to make any announcements here this morning. But it is something that I am thinking about, and I’ll make a decision in the coming months,” said Cheney.
So, yes, Liz Cheney is going to run for president and her reason is to keep Trump out of the Oval Office.
This is what’s known as the Beto O’Rourke political career trajectory: lose at your level and then run at a higher level to lose even worse.
The delusion is strong with this one. The people of her “home” state just overwhelmingly rejected her but Cheney thinks she has a real shot in the Republican primaries against Trump or Ron DeSantis. She’d fare much better in the democratic primaries and maybe that’s what she’s planning to do.
I have some bad news for Cheney: democrats don’t actually like her. She’s been a useful idiot for the democratic party but when it comes down to it, she’s still Dick Cheney’s daughter and considered a mortal enemy. Now that her usefulness is over, democrats will cast her aside.
Liz Cheney’s best bet would be to get a gig on The View as the resident “conservative.” She could bash Trump and the Republican Party all she wants and never have to worry about trying to convince Republicans to vote for her.
