Sometimes the best endorsements come from those who hate you the most. That’s the story after a death row inmate in Florida decided to use his last words to address his governor—Ron DeSantis.
The Florida governor has made a name for himself as a tough-on-crime executive who always stays on the offense on every issue.
Partly due to his efforts, the Sunshine State has seen crime rates drop to a 50-year low while other states continue to see spikes in violent crime.
Donald Dillbeck was convicted of stabbing a woman to death in 1990 in a mall parking lot. That was after he escaped from a work-release program while serving time for killing a sheriff’s deputy. But just prior to his execution, instead of apologizing to the family or showing any real remorse, Dillbeck went on a rant about how terrible DeSantis is.
The report of his last words comes from the Tallahassee Democrat, and the writer, who was present at the execution, seemed awfully sympathetic to his plight on Twitter.
Dillbeck stated:
I know I hurt people when I was young. I really messed up. But I know Ron DeSantis has done a lot worse. He’s taken a lot from a lot of people. I speak for all men, women and children. He’s put his foot on our necks. Ron DeSantis and other people like him can suck our *****.
Absolutely legendary stuff. If DeSantis has lost the convicted murderer demographic, that’s a good indication he’s over the target. What is just as entertaining is the press running with this in such a lapdog, obsequious fashion.
Why give this madman such unquestioned exposure, as if his words mean anything?
That’s a rhetorical question, of course, because we know why. Hitler himself could reincarnate and criticize DeSantis, and the media would nod appreciatively in agreement.
You have to love the fact that Dillbeck proclaims that he speaks for “all men, women, and children.”
Could [we] get a fact-check on that please?
The use of “I’m oppressed” language to go after DeSantis, saying that he’s putting “his foot on our necks” is also pitch-perfect.
The governor couldn’t ask for a better endorsement of his policies.
He continues to make all the right people mad, whether it be The Lincoln Project or sociopathic killers on death row.
That his governance triggers the media in such a way that they’d actually insinuate a murderer’s words hold weight is just the cherry on top.
The ultimate compliment for a conservative is to
fully exacerbate the unethical mass propaganda media.
