Democrats Can’t Define ‘Assault Weapon’ But Want To Ban And Confiscate Them

Democrats have alternate definitions for things like calling abortion, “women’s health care,” but then can’t define what a woman is. They also refer to unconstitutional gun control as “commonsense gun safety,” but again can’t define the guns they want to confiscate. DHS head Alejandro Mayorkas testified that “assault weapons” should be banned but refused to say what an assault weapon actually is.

Dorkus Mayorkas was testifying before the Senate yesterday and got seriously tripped up by a simple question from Republican Senator John Kennedy:

Mayorkas testified that he supports banning assault weapons so Kennedy asked, “Tell me your definition, once more, of an assault weapon.”

“I am not an expert with respect to the definition of the assault bans,” replied Mayorkas.

“You are the Secretary of Homeland Security,” Kennedy pointed out.

“I defer to the experts,” said Mayorkas.

Kennedy refused to accept this nonsense and continued trying. Eventually, Mayorkas indicated that he thought an assault weapon was a “military -style” weapon.

“What do you mean by military-style weapon?” Kennedy asked.

“I do not have the requisite expertise,” Mayorkas replied.

“You made a very bold statement, very firmly saying we should ban all assault weapons and all I’m asking is, what, in your mind, is an assault weapon?” Kennedy asked again.

“Senator, I believe I’ve addressed your question,” said Mayorkas.

After not getting an answer from Mayorkas, Kennedy finally summed things up by saying, “You believe we should ban assault weapons, but it bothers me you can’t tell me what you would ban.”

Democrats are purposefully vague on what an “assault weapon” is because they want it to mean whatever they say it is. All firearms were developed for and used in combat, so every gun is a “military-style” weapon. What they actually want to is to ban and confiscate every firearm in private hands.

Speaking of which, White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, confirmed that position yesterday during the daily briefing:

“Does the president support, not just banning the sale and manufacture of semi-automatic weapons, but further than that, confiscation?” asked a reporter.

“Let me just be really clear, what we are talking about, AR-15s these assault weapons ban, they are weapons of war and they should not be on the streets across the country. They should not be in schools, they should not be in grocery stores, they should not be in churches. That’s what the president believes,” said Jean-Pierre.

Though she wasn’t as clear as she promised, clearly that is a yes. Joe Biden not only wants to ban guns, he wants to confiscate them. If Biden believes that guns don’t belong anywhere in society, that means he want to get rid of them, which is the definition of confiscation.

Democrats have alternate definitions for things to make them sound less horrible, and in the case of obliterating a Constitutional right, they can’t find a euphemism to lessen the catastrophic impact, so they leave it undefined. If they could ram through an assault weapons ban, suddenly they’d have no problem defining it as all privately held firearms.
