Gavin Newsom, who is governor of California and holds no national office, has proposed an Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would ban firearms. Since he has zero authority to propose such a thing, it’s now very clear that Newsom is being groomed by the left to run for president in 2024 when Joe Biden suddenly has a reason to drop out of the race.
Newsom has been dubbed on Twitter as “Greaselini” because of his 80s-style douchebag slicked-back hair and his love of fascism. Speaking of which, here’s the Alameda Autocrat’s manifesto:
Today Governor Gavin Newsom proposed a 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution to enshrine fundamental, broadly supported gun safety measures into law. While leaving the 2nd Amendment unchanged and respecting America’s gun-owning tradition, the Governor’s proposal guarantees common sense constitutional protections and gun safety measures that Democrats, Republicans, independent voters, and gun owners overwhelmingly support – including universal background checks, raising the firearm purchase age to 21, instituting a firearm purchase waiting period, and barring the civilian purchase of assault weapons.
“Our ability to make a more perfect union is literally written into the Constitution. So today, I’m proposing the 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution to do just that. The 28th Amendment will enshrine in the Constitution common sense gun safety measures that Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and gun owners overwhelmingly support – while leaving the 2nd Amendment unchanged and respecting America’s gun-owning tradition,” said Newsom in the statement.
There’s a lot to tackle here, the first being the bullshit idea that Republicans and gun owners overwhelming support gun control or any kind or gun bans. If this were true, there would be more national gun control and gun bans, but since this is a leftist lie, the 2nd Amendment remains intact.
It gets worse with Newsom’s bullet-point amendment proposal:
- Raising the federal minimum age to purchase a firearm from 18 to 21;
- Mandating universal background checks to prevent truly dangerous people from purchasing a gun that could be used in a crime;
- Instituting a reasonable waiting period for all gun purchases; and
- Barring civilian purchase of assault weapons that serve no other purpose than to kill as many people as possible in a short amount of time – weapons of war our nation’s founders never foresaw.
“Weapons of war,” “assault weapons,” and weapons that, “kill as many people as possible in a short amount of time” are not actual categories of firearms that exist. Putting that kind of language in a Constitutional amendment is utterly pointless because no Supreme Court Justice could make a ruling. In reality, he’s not describing semi-automatic weapons like the AR-15 because they aren’t something that anyone uses on the battlefield.
It’s even more pointless because this amendment stands absolutely no chance of ever happening. There will never be two-thirds of Congress that would vote for it and there’s no way three-fourths of the states would ratify it.
Jjust for shits and giggles, let’s pretend that it was somehow ratified, the 2nd Amendment still exists and plainly states: The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. There can be no contradictory Constitutional amendments, so the 2nd Amendment would first have to be repealed before the Greaselini amendment could be enshrined. That is something that is even less likely to occur.
Newsom is a freedom-hating liberal scumbag, but even he knows this proposal will never fly. He’s obviously doing this for national publicity because Joe Biden is going to have a mysterious health condition leading up to 2024 and have to step down. The democratic party handlers have already been grooming Newsom and they want to keep his name in the news for when he takes over as their presidential nominee.
