Newsom Names Out-Of-State Black Lesbian To Fill Feinstein’s Seat

In normal circles, things like competency, experience, and achievement are qualifications, but liberals consider race, gender, and sexual preference above all. California Gavin Newsom has named a black lesbian from Maryland to fill Dianne Feinstein’s vacated Senate seat, hitting the trifecta of wokeness.

Even before Dianne Feinstein died, there were calls for her to retire because she had lost her marbles in a Joe Biden kind of way. Cali conman Gavin Newsom said at the time that he would name a black woman to replace her, and after she died last week, made good on the pandering promise, as The Hill reports:

Laphonza Butler, a former adviser to Vice President Harris who currently serves as president of EMILY’s List, was named to fill the vacant U.S. Senate seat in California that was held by the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who died Friday at the age of 90.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) made the announcement late Sunday evening, after a weekend full of anticipation ahead of the decision. Newsom had pledged previously to select a Black woman to fill Feinstein’s seat, should it ever become open, and Butler’s appointment fills that pledge.

In his announcement, Newsom noted that Butler also would make history as the first Black lesbian to openly serve as a U.S. senator.

The first black lesbian to do something is not the first person to do something, which is how history is made. It’s also not an historic achievement to be appointed a Senator, versus being elected as a Senator.

Being a former advisor to Kamala Harris is disqualifying enough, but Butler is also the president of pro-abortion group EMILY’s List, which is a Super PAC. It’s unclear if it is legal to put a the president of a political action committee in the Senate, but it sure as hell is unethical.

Speaking of disqualifying factors, Butler doesn’t even live in California, as Fox News reports:

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s pick to replace the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein in the Senate has been quick to scrub online evidence that she actually lives in Maryland.

Screenshots of Laphonza Butler’s account on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, show that she still listed her location as “Maryland” on Sunday when news of her selection was first reported. Her account has since been updated and currently does not list any location.

Butler, who is president of the pro-abortion group EMILY’s List, has a bio on the organization’s website that was changed hours after the news of her Senate appointment came out, removing references to her living in Maryland. A previous version of her bio concluded with the sentence, “She lives in Maryland with her partner Neneki Lee and their daughter Nylah,” which has since been removed

In addition to the online references to Maryland, a Federal Election Commission filing from EMILY’s List also identified Butler as a resident of Silver Spring, Maryland, as recently as Aug. 31.

Butler is also registered to vote in Maryland, which Newsom’s people say is not a big deal:

Butler currently lives in Maryland, according to her EMILY’s List biography, but a spokesperson for Newsom told the AP that she owns a home in California and plans to reregister to vote in California before she is sworn in.

Because of residency requirements, Butler could not run for a U.S. Senate seat in California, but Newsom can apparently point her to the seat. If she is allowed to take Feinstein’s seat, both of California’s Senators will be unelected appointees of Governor Hair Gel.

The craziest thing about this is that Newsom is so incompetent that he can’t even find a black lesbian who actually lives in California.
