O world Jewry, you as a people have abdicated your responsibility to protect yourselves, to educate your children, and to live in reality and not in fantasy. You failed to understand the difference between reality and naivety.

For the recent many decades you have grown to believe that your position in the world was so secure that you have the freedom to involve yourselves in dismantling the one nation that supports your dreams of a homeland. You convinced yourselves that Israel was so strong that you did not have to defend it, advocate for it, or concern yourself about it.
In fact, you threatened Israel by stating you would withdraw your support from it if the country did not “get in line with your values.” You believed the Jews of Israel were so secure that you could teach your children to be highly critical of Israel. You deluded yourselves into believing Israel did not need you and that the Jews of America did not need Israel. You convinced yourselves certain social issues like abortion, immigration, gay rights, social justice or even Islamophobia were more important to you than the future security of Israel and the security of your own Jewish community.
O world Jewry, the glaring truth has come back to haunt you. For what happens in Israel affects the rest of the Jewish world. You deluded yourselves into believing that advocating for moslem immigration from countries that export terrorism would be no threat to you. But you failed to realize that most of the immigrants coming from those moslem countries have been taught since they were babies that the Jews are the sons of apes and pigs.
You allowed yourselves to become fragmented. You told yourselves that Tikun Olam (repairing the world) is the most important thing above and beyond your own security. You told yourselves that supporting the Democratic Socialists of America and being Bernie Sanders supporters and Chuck Schumer supporters was okay despite their positions on Israel. You told yourselves it was not a big deal that Linda Sarsour was one of the heads of the Women’s March.
Even though you are in fact among the most persecuted peoples in the world, you refused to remain cognizant that such persecution would one day be your problem too. You have forgotten that you are included on the list of privileged oppressors instead of among the oppressed. You were told that you did not really have a position in the hierarchy of Identity Politics because you were white. And you accepted it. You were unable to recognize the difference between an enemy and a friend.
O world Jewry, you were so confident in your personal security—physically, emotionally, practically, and professionally—that you took on the causes of others and ignored your own needs. The events of October 7 and the aftermath have demonstrated to many that you were dead wrong.
O world Jewry, you must move forward, but you must also look back and understand the mistakes you have made, take responsibility, and be brave enough to realize where you went wrong. Because to properly move forward, you must understand how you have reached the place upon which you now stand. You must take back the narrative, educate your children, and teach your flock in the synagogues. The Jewish people currently have a tremendous amount of power, both personally and collectively, and you must choose to use it. You must not ignore the reality that you have enemies, real enemies, here in America and of course in Europe and in the Middle East, and you must identify them rather than try to embrace them.
O world Jewry, you must rebuild bridges, but they must be effective bridges, strong bridges, bridges upon which you can come to rely. Not bridges that will crumble the moment there is any pressure applied. These are hard truths, but they are not hard to understand, now. You are at an inflection point. This is the moment you must choose to live and thrive or to further stagnate and die. You have a choice, it is still in your power, but if you do not recognize this reality and act now the window will fade. And you will be all left alone to deal with the fear and the unknown. Unless you all want to become marranos, then you must act…the time is NOW.
