Zelensky Optimistic Trump Will Bring Swift End to Ukraine-Russia War

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has voiced his optimism that President Donald Trump will bring peace to his nation.

Breitbart reported:

Zelensky said he believes Ukraine’s war with Russia could conclude more swiftly under Trump’s impending presidency.

During a broadcast on Ukraine’s public radio station Suspilne, Zelensky remarked on the potential for a quicker resolution to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

He suggested the war might end sooner once Trump takes office on January 20.

Zelensky’s confidence stems from Trump’s advocacy for a “peace through strength” foreign policy and the Ukrainian leader believes Trump’s policies could expedite a just peace in the region.

In his radio interview, Zelensky emphasized:

[T]he importance of diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict, aligning with what he perceives as a promise from the incoming Trump administration.

He shared that his post-election conversation with Trump was “constructive,” indicating a potential alignment in foreign policy approaches between the two administrations. The Ukraine president stressed that achieving peace next year is crucial.

Zelensky’s remarks have caught international attention.

Trump’s past claims that his leadership could prevent such conflicts and his assurance that he could end the war quickly have left many around the world hopeful of a peaceful resolution.

Trump’s foreign policy stance and the principle of “peace through strength has been consistent with his first administration’s approach. This strategy implies that military power can help achieve diplomatic success.

Zelensky expressed his appreciation for Trump’s commitment to this approach in a post on X, having noted it aligns closely with what he believes is necessary for peace in Ukraine.

His statement:

This is exactly the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer.

Under The Obiden Regime, the U.S. has been a significant supporter of Ukraine—American taxpayers have provided $55.5 billion in military aid from February 2022 to June 2024.

And earlier this year, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a $61 billion military aid package for Ukraine. And unsurprisingly, the funding package did not include plans to end the war.

No doubt, many believe Ukraine has been a wealth building operation involving payoffs to members of Congress.

In a significant development, North Korea has deployed 10,000 soldiers to support Russia, following substantial troop losses. This move complicates the geopolitical landscape and impacts the dynamics of the Ukrainian conflict.

The involvement of external actors like North Korea could influence the strategies adopted by the U.S. under Trump’s presidency, particularly given his previous administration’s approach to international conflicts and engagements.

Zelensky’s outlook on the effectiveness of Trump’s policies will be an essential factor in shaping Ukraine’s strategies and international relations going forward.
