Just hours after Matt Gaetz withdrew his nomination as attorney general, President-elect Trump identified a long-time member of the MAGA movement to replace him.
Pam Bondi, the former Florida attorney general, spent eight years as the Sunshine State’s top lawyer and has maintained her long association with the president-elect since leaving office.
As Florida’s attorney general, she opposed same-sex marriage and worked to challenge the constitutionality of Obamacare.
President Trump is looking forward to Ms. Bondi becoming head of the justice department.
He was not pleased with how Jeff Sessions, his first attorney general, failed to take control of the department, and he has learned who will not be dependable and who will as he prepares for his second term.
In a statement on his Truth Social platform, the president-elect said Pam Bondi would “refocus” the justice department on “fighting crime” instead of targeting Republicans. He has been the target of multiple lawfare cases.
The message appeared to be aimed at the propaganda media who in-large-part colluded with the weaponized in-justice department against him.
Trump continued:
Pam was a prosecutor for nearly 20 years, where she was very tough on violent criminals, and made the streets safe for Florida families.
Further:
Then, as Florida’s first female attorney general, she worked to stop the trafficking of deadly drugs, and reduce the tragedy of fentanyl overdose deaths, which have destroyed many families across our country. She did such an incredible job.
After leaving office, Ms Bondi joined the Trump team as one of the lawyers who fought his first impeachment battle.
Ms. Bondi later joined the America First Policy Institute, the MAGA think tank and recruiting ground for members of the new Trump administration, as the head of its legal arm.
Once confirmed by the Senate, Ms. Bondi will become the U.S.’s chief law enforcement officer.
Additionally, to assist the Trump-Vance team:
Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA) said on Thursday she will chair a U.S. House of Representatives panel on government efficiency, working with billionaire Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy in their effort to streamline the U.S. government.
The following from msn.com.
Greene’s government efficiency subcommittee was created by House Oversight Committee chair James Comer to work with Musk and Ramaswamy.
Recall Musk and Ramaswamy were tasked by President-elect Trump with creating a panel of outside advisers to reduce the size of the federal workforce and slash regulations. The result so far is the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Rep. Greene wrote on X:
I’m thrilled to announce I’ll be chairing a brand-new subcommittee to work hand-in-hand with @ElonMusk and @VivekGRamaswamy.
Trump, Musk, and Ramaswamy are confident of the panel’s ability to transform the U.S. government and the effort has received widespread publicity and interest in how it will operate.
Trump has said Musk and Ramaswamy will issue reports, and the new panel said it wants to bring on “high IQ” staff and hold weekly livestreams.
God speed to the Trump-Vance team and welcome to both ladies.
