The liberal network MSNBC has descended into chaos in the weeks since Donald Trump won the presidential election.

For months, Rachel Maddow and other MSNBC hosts had falsely portrayed Trump’s opponent as such a strong candidate that there was no way Trump could win.

That is why MSNBC’s leftwing audience went into shock when Trump trounced his opponent not only in the Electoral College but also in the popular vote. Indeed, how could viewers trust MSNBC and the network’s coverage ever again when its hosts had been so blatantly wrong?

Last Wednesday, Comcast announced it will be spinning off MSNBC and several other NBCUniversal cable networks. This will massively shake up the landscape of legacy media, as it means that MSNBC will no longer be affiliated with NBC News.

In the wake of this, Elon Musk has said he may buy MSNBC and reinvent the network. Now, the podcast host and comedian Joe Rogan has a proposal for Musk if he follows through and ends up doing that.

X owner Elon Musk joked this week he may buy the liberal news network and The Joe Rogan Experience host Joe Rogan chimed in, offering to replace MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow on her show while adopting her signature look.

‘If you buy MSNBC I would like Rachel Maddow’s job. I will wear the same outfit and glasses, and I will tell the same lies,’ Rogan wrote on Friday in response to a post by Musk.

The X owner replied, ‘Deal.’

Now, imagine how much Maddow’s head would explode if her show was given to Rogan! Indeed, she would undoubtedly have a meltdown of truly epic proportions.

This all started last Friday, when Musk took to social media to say:

MSNBC is going up for sale. Should I buy it? I would like to fire Rachel Maddow (for fun) and then turn it into a channel that reports the top stories from X each day. Citizen reporting on cable news!

Musk doubled down on this on Sunday when he posted a meme depicting himself trying to fight the temptation of purchasing MSNBC.

This comes after a rough couple of weeks for Maddow.

Since Trump won the election, Maddow has lost almost half of her viewers. In the wake of Trump’s victory, The Rachel Maddow show is averaging just 1.4 million viewers. That’s down 41% from the pre-election numbers.

Things get even worse for Maddow in the coveted 25-54 age demographic. There, Maddow averaged 236,000 daily viewers in 2024. However, since the election, that number is down to 118,000 in a brutal 50% drop. Reports have claimed that MSNBC has responded to this by slashing Maddow’s salary by $5 million. She will allegedly go from making $30 million per year to $25 million per year. Hard times, indeed!

Maddow has undoubtedly lost the trust of her

viewers after years of relentlessly bashing Trump.

She infamously pushed since-debunked theories tying him to Russia during his first presidency. Since, she has alienated even more viewers by not accurately reporting Trump’s chances of winning this election.

In contrast, Rogan still has the trust of millions of fans. Unlike Maddow, he can actually be trusted to tell the truth. In the end, perhaps Rogan is the perfect person to take over Maddow’s show.
