Before he left town, Mayorkas signed an order that said for 18 months they were going to extend this protection to people that are in Temporary Protected Status. And we stopped that today.
The cancelled extension would have allowed approximately 600,000 Venezuelan nationals to remain in the United States through late 2026, regardless of their compliance with immigration laws.

Noem continued:
We signed an executive order within the Department of Homeland Security in a direction that we were not going to follow through on what [Mayorkas] did to tie our hands, that we are going to follow the process, evaluate all of these individuals that are in our country.
