Quick Takes from the Past 24-48 Hours

The ‘Speed of Trump’ continues.

The following is a short installment of Trump-Vance team accomplishments (each article is linked for further info):

1. Secretary of State Rubio Pressured Panama, Secures No Fees for Use of Canal

America built something extraordinary in Panama. We paid for it. We bled for it. The canal stands as our greatest engineering marvel. Period.

But Washington bureaucrats got sloppy. They handed away our strategic masterpiece. First to Panama in 1999. Then they watched as Beijing’s companies grabbed the ports. Classic D.C. brilliance at work.

From The Post Millennial:

The US State Department under Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced on Wednesday that ‘U.S. government vessels can now transit the Panama Canal without charge fees.’ This, the State Department notes, will save the US ‘millions of dollars a year.

Chinese companies still control ports at both ends of the canal. For now. But this week’s announcement sends a crystal clear message: the era of taking advantage of American strategic assets is over.

Teddy Roosevelt famously advised speaking softly while carrying a big stick. This administration just showed exactly how that works in 2025. Sometimes, you don’t need to swing the stick. You just need to remind everyone you have one.

2. Sen Ted Cruz Pushes Supreme Court Plan, Amendment Would End Democrat Court Packing Scheme

Progressive forces are going after the very foundations of our republic. The same people who want to tear down statues are now setting their sights on dismantling our institutions from within.

And the latest target is the very institution that safeguards our constitutional rights: the Supreme Court itself.

Enter Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who is leading a bold counter-offensive against what he calls a “direct assault on the design of our Constitution.” Cruz, joined by 15 Republican co-sponsors, has reintroduced a constitutional amendment aimed at protecting the Supreme Court’s traditional nine-justice structure.

From Fox News:

‘Democrats are seeking to use the Court to advance policy goals they can’t accomplish electorally,’ Cruz said in a statement. ‘Such a move would be a direct assault on the design of our Constitution, which is designed to ensure the Supreme Court remains a non-partisan guardian of the rule of law.’

3. Trump Scores Win for American Military, Plans to Withdraw Troops from War-Torn Syria

America’s military might has long been stretched thin across the globe. Each deployment comes with a price tag. Every mission carries hidden costs. And the American taxpayer repeatedly is given the bill.

The Middle East stands as a monument to failed foreign policy experiments. Corporate media keeps pushing for more intervention. More spending. More American lives are on the line. But the tide is turning.

Washington’s pattern of deception about our overseas commitments has finally hit a breaking point. The real numbers are emerging. The true costs are shocking. And Americans have had enough.

From The Daily Caller:

The Department of Defense (DOD) is reportedly drafting a plan to withdraw all 2,000 troops from Syria in either 30, 60 or 90 days, sources told NBC News. Since 2014, the U.S. has maintained a troop presence in the region, mainly to fight the Islamic State out of its headquarters at al-Tanf in southern Syria…

The Pentagon under former President Joe Biden repeatedly claimed there were 900 troops stationed in Syria, however, the number was revised to the current 2,000 troop figure, with then-Pentagon press secretary Pat Ryder saying in a December press conference that he had recently learned the new number, with the White House equally ignorant as to the reason for the revision.

Trump stated bluntly:

Syria is its own mess. They got enough messes over there. They don’t need us involved in everyone.

No diplomatic double-speak. No strategic ambiguity. Just straight talk from a president who puts America first.

The Pentagon isn’t just pulling out. Three options are on the table: 30, 60, or 90 days. Each timeline ensures proper security handoffs. Each protects American interests. Each brings our troops home responsibly.

4. Border Crossings Crash under Trump, Government-Funded Migrant Shelters Close Up

The United Nations and its constellation of non-profit partners have operated a sophisticated network across America for years, channeling billions in taxpayer dollars through an intricate web of organizations. Most Americans remained unaware of this massive operation happening across our nation.

Religious organizations, their coffers overflowing with government grants, constructed vast networks dedicated to processing illegal border crossings.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops alone received hundreds of millions to “resettle” illegal immigrants, all while lecturing American citizens about compassion.

Anyone daring to question this arrangement faced immediate accusations of heartlessness. But as the financial curtain pulls back, the true beneficiaries of America’s porous borders are becoming crystal clear.

From Breitbart:

Non-profit organizations that received hundreds of millions of dollars from the federal government under [The Obiden Regime] began to close their doors… The released migrants [illegals], now the missing part of the equation necessary to receive millions of tax-payer dollars, are causing the rapid closures of shelters in Texas and Arizona in the first few weeks of the new administration.

The financial scope is staggering. Congressional appropriations for Fiscal Year 2024 allocated $650 million in taxpayer funds for the FEMA Shelter and Services Program.

That revenue stream, which once flowed freely to non-government shelters nationwide, has now run dry.

5. Trump Signs Transgender Ban and White House Reveals Olympics Will Obey Order

Los Angeles is preparing to host the 2028 Summer Olympics sporting event. But this time, there is a new sheriff in town.

In a move that sent liberal sports commentators into a tailspin, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dropped a truth bomb about there being no more biological males in women’s sports. Not here. Not now. Not ever.

From The Post Millennial:

Trump expect[s] the Olympic Committee and the NCAA to no longer allow men to compete in women’s sports.

The administration is not merely suggesting change. They are demanding it. President Trump’s executive order launches a “very public pressure campaign” on organizations to protect women’s sports.
