However, that conventional wisdom has now been shattered. Less than a month into the Trump administration, a dramatic shift is occurring. A migrant shelter along the pathway to the U.S. in Northern Mexico reports the flow of immigrants has “enormously decreased.”

María Concepción Martínez Rodríguez, a migrant activist and coordinator of the Jesús Torres Fraire Day Center for Migrants in Torreón, told Milenio that with the border ‘so militarized, so difficult,’ many migrants ‘don’t want to try anymore and they are giving up.’
‘The migratory flow is changing,’ said Martinez Rodriguez. ‘If we have eight migrants, there are shelters that don’t have a single one.’
The numbers paint a clear picture. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported just 29,116 illegal alien apprehensions in January. This marks a sharp decline from December’s 47,000.
Border Patrol agents now encounter only 229 aliens daily across the entire southwest border. This represents a stunning drop from the previous administration’s peak of over 11,000 per day.
These improvements directly impact American communities. Each secured mile of border means safer neighborhoods. Every prevented illegal crossing represents resources preserved for legal residents.
The Trump administration’s approach is comprehensive and decisive.
