‘Many More Victories to Follow!’ Pres. Trump Celebrates the Results in the German Elections

AfD, the political party in the German elections taking place on Sunday backed by Elon Musk, was set to shock progressive elites in Europe by picking up a great deal of voter support:

This from redstate.com.

Germans are heading to the polls Sunday to elect members of the Bundestag, the country’s federal parliament, with the election garnering extra attention due to Elon Musk’s support of the right-leaning, populist AfD (Alternative für Deutschland) party. The election was originally slated to take place in September of this year, but was moved up due to the collapse of Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s coalition government back in November.

As previously noted, a bit of clarity is needed about who and what AfD is–since

[T]he same people who oppose AfD are the same people who despise Donald Trump and Argentina’s Javier Milei.

AfD’s mission statement is this:

We are liberals and conservatives. We are free citizens of our country. We are convinced democrats. Here is some of what the party, often described by the media as ‘far right,’ stands for:

  • Strong opposition to illegal immigration and asylum policies.
  • Emphasis on preserving German cultural identity.
  • Reforming or leaving the EU altogether (“Dexit” has been debated within the party).
  • Opposition to green energy policies, favoring traditional energy sources like coal and nuclear power.

Germans were enthusiastic about coming out to the polls, according to one analysis of voter turnout:

Now, we have the latest exit poll results, showing AfD garnering the second-most votes:

New Right party @AfD doubled its votes and emerged as 2nd strongest party (behind the Christian conservative @cducsubt). But Germany’s socialist chancellor @Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz called on election-losing socialists not to accept the election results.

The chart below gives the numbers for each party in the elections:

President Trump released a statement on his Truth Social account, celebrating AfD’s victories:

The final turnout was a remarkable 84 percent, with CDU/CSU winning a slim portion of the votes. Despite AfD coming in second, “[CDU/CSU] refus[es] to deal with them”:

German elections : 84% voter turnout, highest since reunification. The CDU/CSU wins, but with only 30%. They refuse to deal with AfD  and so must ally with smaller parties including, in the words of the soon-to-be Chancellor, ‘green and left wing idiots.’

As this is a developing story, updates will be provided as they become available.

***UPDATE***

Chancellor Olaf Scholz conceded defeat for his center-left Social Democrats after what he called “a bitter election result.” Projections for ARD and ZDF public television showed his party finishing in third place with its worst postwar result in a national parliamentary election.

Germany’s conservative opposition leader Friedrich Merz won a “lackluster victory” in a national election Sunday, while Alternative for Germany (AfD) doubled its support, projections showed.

The projections, based on exit polls and partial counting, put support for Merz’s Union bloc around 28.5% and the anti-immigration Alternative for Germany, at approximately 20.5%—roughly double its result from 2021.

Final thoughts: These results may mean the turnover of Germany to the migrant masses will cease under Conservative leadership or at least be slowed.

Germany is the most populous country in the 27-nation European Union and a leading member of NATO. It has been Ukraine’s second-largest weapons supplier, after the U.S. Germany will be central to shaping the continent’s response to the challenges of the coming years, including the Trump administration’s foreign and trade policy.
