Melania Rips the Left for Not Supporting the ‘Take it Down’ Act

The internet is a dangerous place these days. Just ask any parent with a teenager.

Between social media predators and cutting-edge AI technology, young women face unprecedented threats to their privacy and dignity.

This from thepatriotjournal.com.

While politicians love to grandstand about “protecting the children,” their actions rarely match their lofty rhetoric. Especially when it comes to certain politicians with a “D” next to their name.

First Lady Melania Trump made a rare Capitol Hill appearance Monday, advocating for crucial legislation to protect victims of “revenge porn” and AI-generated deepfake images.

The Take it Down Act, introduced by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), would criminalize the distribution of non-consensual intimate imagery, including the increasingly prevalent AI-generated fake pornography.

From The Daily Wire:

‘Addressing this issue is essential for fostering a safe and supportive environment for our young people,’ Melania said during a panel discussion with victims of NCII. ‘I hope today’s roundtable builds awareness of the harm caused by non-consensual intimate imagery and eventually the approval of the Take it Down Act in Congress.’

This marked Melania’s first solo public appearance since returning to the White House, reviving her “Be Best” anti-cyberbullying initiative from the Trump first term.

The First Lady emphasized the legislation supports her platform by providing “important legislation to safeguard our youth.”

Despite the bipartisan nature of the bill, which was co-sponsored by the Left’s Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Melania was disappointed with the glaring absence of representation from the Left at the roundtable discussion.

From The Daily Wire:

‘I was heartened to learn that Sen. Cruz and Sen. Klobuchar [C/G-MN] unified to prioritize this fundamental matter,’ Melania Trump continued. ‘I must admit, however, I expected to see more Democrat leaders with us here today to address this serious issue. Surely, as adults we can prioritize America’s children ahead of partisan politics.’

Only one Democrat, Rep. Ro Khanna of California, bothered to show up for the roundtable.

Apparently, protecting young women from exploitation is not high on the Left’s priority list—despite their constant claims of being champions for women’s rights.

Too busy with DEI seminars and climate change hysteria to protect actual women from actual harm?

The Take it Down Act already passed the Senate unanimously with a 100-0 vote in February—a rare display of bipartisan cooperation.
Yet the legislation has stalled in the House, where it needs to pass before reaching President Trump’s desk.

Melania warned during the event:

In today’s AI-driven world, the threat of privacy breaches is alarmingly high.

Further:

As organizations harness the power of our data, the risk of unauthorized access and misuse of personal information escalates.

House GOP leadership has pledged to make the legislation a priority, with House Energy and Commerce Chair Brett Guthrie (R-KY) promising to schedule a hearing in the coming weeks.

House Speaker Mike Johnson and Majority Leader Steve Scalise have also voiced their support.

Johnson said at Monday’s event:

We are anxious to put it on the floor in the House and get it to President Trump’s desk for signature.

Further:

We’ve got to do what we can to stop this. I am a full supporter of it.

During President Trump’s first term, Melania introduced her Be Best initiative focused on making online platforms safer for young people. The Take it Down Act represents a natural continuation of that work.

Meanwhile, those from the Left who claim to champion women’s safety were mysteriously absent. Actions speak louder than words—and their empty chairs spoke volumes.
