They seem perfectly content shipping our brave young men and women off to fight endless wars overseas, but bend over backwards to coddle individuals who broke our laws to get here.
Their wrongheaded behavior is enough to make one’s blood boil. For years, hardworking Americans have watched their tax dollars seemingly vanish into programs that benefit everyone except We the People, wondering if anyone in charge remembers who pays their salaries. Well, finally President Trump is pulling the rug out from under one of the Left’s favorite schemes.
The Trump administration, specifically the Department of Agriculture under Secretary Brooke Rollins, has put states on notice: Stop giving food stamps (SNAP benefits) to illegal aliens. Period. This is not some radical new policy; this is about enforcing the laws already on the books—laws the Left seems conveniently eager to ignore or creatively bypass.
NOTE: Federal law, like the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, has always stated SNAP benefits are reserved for U.S. citizens and certain lawfully present noncitizens. Illegal aliens were never eligible. Yet, somehow, taxpayer money is continuing to be put into the wrong hands. Secretary Rollins made it plain:
This crackdown is about being
efficient and effective with taxpayer dollars.

‘We think we’ll be able to cut down on billions of fraud and save the taxpayers a lot of money,’ Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said.
Saving billions? That sounds like putting Americans first. And the administration is not merely talking tough; they are demanding states use proper verification tools, like the Department of Homeland Security’s SAVE system and cross-checking Social Security numbers against the Death Master File to root out fraud.
Predictably, this common-sense enforcement is likely to ruffle feathers in states run by Leftists, where expanding benefits to non-citizens seems to be a sport. Rollins noted:
Of course, it’s the blue states that tend to want to put everyone on the taxpayers’ back.
California has opened up taxpayer-funded Medicaid regardless of immigration status. It is this kind of blatant disregard for federal law and fiscal sanity the Trump administration is targeting. Rollins stated arrests have already been made in Minnesota, New York, and Colorado for fraud related to these benefits.
She added, hoping it acts as a deterrent:
We’re going to be extremely, extremely aggressive.
We the People ask, ‘Why some Leftist-led states are so eager to shower illegal aliens with benefits paid for by American citizens?’ Is it genuine compassion, or something more calculated? They will soon be forced to acknowledge:
The era of looking the other way while states
play fast and loose with [our] money is over.
Conservatives have long suspected these generous, taxpayer-funded handouts are less about charity and more about cultivating future voters or buying loyalty from certain demographics. By making life comfortable for those here illegally, they are trying to create dependence and ultimately exploit these individuals for political gain down the road—using our tax dollars to bolster their power.
Thankfully, President Trump is putting a stop to it. This move to enforce SNAP eligibility is not only about saving money; it is about restoring respect for the rule of law and reaffirming a fundamental principle:
American tax dollars should benefit American citizens first.
