Quick Takes from the Past 24-48 Hours

The following is an installment of Trump-Vance team accomplishments (each article is linked for further info):

1. DOJ Civil Rights Lawyers Resign Rather Than Fight Antisemitism

They are making a point. So is the media. Just not the one they think they are making.

From the Washington Post:

The new head of the Justice Department’s civil rights division is dramatically reshaping the office to propel President Trump’s social agenda, prompting the departure of about half of the division’s lawyers in recent weeks, according to people familiar with the situation and public statements from top officials.

Since being sworn in this month, civil rights director Harmeet K. Dhillon has redirected her staff to focus on combating antisemitism, the participation of transgender athletes in women’s sports and what Trump and his allies have described as anti-Christian bias and the Democrats’ “woke ideology.”

NOTE: The DOJ’s civil rights lawyers would rather resign than fight antisemitism and the top two ex-liberal papers in the country now dismissively classify antisemitism together with other things they believe conservatives made up.

Hard to see how they could have done a better job of demonstrating what a farce the concept of civil rights has become.

This is one more issue for the Trump-Vance teams Fix-It list.

2. From Trade Deals to Some Big Ideas for Trump’s Next 100 Days

After “the sky is falling” sentiment from propaganda media concerning President Trump’s tariffs which stressed out Americans, the initial pain of such trade upheaval subsided and investors embraced the promise of new deals that open American goods to once-protected foreign markets like India, Israel, and Vietnam.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told the press repeatedly that roughly 70 nations have called the White House to negotiate. Experts say the key ones to changing America’s trade trajectory are Europe, Canada, India, Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam.

Major financial figures like Bill Ackman and economists like Steve Moore are now predicting the 47th president could unleash a massive economic boom if he can succeed quickly in securing deals with major trade partners that are more fair and open to U.S. manufacturers.

Moore’s prediction of an economic boom leans into a second major task for the second 100 days: Getting Trump’s 2017 tax cuts renewed before they expire at the end of the year. Though ridiculed by the Left as a tax cut for the rich, the data shows the policy has been profound for everyday Americans.

Trump has also floated the idea of bringing down the general income tax rate for all Americans. On April 27 he told the press:

We’re gonna cut taxes for the people of this country. It’ll take a little while before we do that… it’s possible we’ll do a complete tax cut. I think the tariffs will be enough to cut all of the income tax.

Other ideas for the next 100 days. We can anticipate Trump to:

– Appoint a Water Czar. China has been aggressively buying farmland in America which has rich water reservoirs, as have billionaires like Bill Gates. That trend only further heightens the oft-stated battle cry that “water is the new oil,”

– Name a czar to oversee the process of releasing recently unclassified documents. Sen. Johnson has even given the job a catchy name: “Secretary of Radical Transparency.”

– Move toward breaking down the walls between states to increase competition and lower premium prices within America’s health insurance industry, allowing Americans to buy health insurance across state lines.

– Ban once again “gain of function” research which many believe led to the creation of the novel SARS-CoV-2 virus and the consequent COVID-19 pandemic.

3. White House Slams Amazon’s Latest ‘Hostile and Political Act’

The White House is slamming Amazon after the company started placing price increase notifications on products, mainly from China, with an explanation blaming President Trump’s tariffs.

An Amazon spokesperson released in a statement:

The team that runs our ultra low cost Amazon Haul store has considered listing import charges on certain products. This was never a consideration for the main Amazon site and nothing has been implemented on any Amazon properties.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt fired back:

This is a hostile and political act by Amazon. Why didn’t Amazon do this when the Biden administration hiked inflation to the highest level in 40 years? I would also add it’s not a surprise because, as Reuters recently wrote, Amazon has partnered with a Chinese propaganda arm.

This is another reason Americans should buy American. It’s another reason why we are onshoring critical supply chains here at home to shore up our own critical supply chain and boost our own manufacturing.

One hundred days ago, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos attended Trump’s inauguration and landed a coveted spot inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda after the event was moved indoors.

New reaction to Amazon’s move is pouring in, including from lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

4. Revenge Porn Bill Backed by First Lady Melania Trump Overwhelmingly Passes House 409-2

First Lady Melania Trump, who does not weigh in on public policy often, is a vocal supporter of the bill. In March, she hosted a roundtable on deepfake and revenge porn to advocate for the passage of the TAKE IT DOWN Act.

WATCH:

Rep Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Rep Eric Burlison (R-MO) voted against the bill.

The bill cracks down on the posting of explicit images, including “deep fake” nudes generated of people by artificial intelligence, without consent.

A bill summary states:

[The measure] generally prohibits the nonconsensual online publication of intimate visual depictions of individuals, both authentic and computer-generated, and requires certain online platforms to promptly remove such depictions upon receiving notice of their existence.

The First Lady cheered the victory on X sharing, “PASSED: Take It Down Act”

Advancing this legislation has been a key focus since I returned to my role as First Lady this past January. I am honored to have contributed to guiding it through Congress.

By safeguarding children from hurtful online behavior today, we take a vital step in nurturing our leaders of tomorrow.

The legislation will now go to President Trump to be signed.

5. Trump Has Frozen Nearly a Half-Trillion Dollars … So Far

A billion here, a billion there, and soon you’re talking real money. Yes, originally the phrase was a million, but that was before The Obiden Regime.

Just how much has Elon Musk and his DOGE team accomplished? The Left has vented that Trump has frozen over $435 billion in approved spending—so far.

Imagine, Trump and Musk having found a half-trillion dollars of potential savings in just 100 days. What could they save We the People in a full budget cycle?

Trump ran on cutting government spending, explicitly with the help of Elon Musk. Trump won election and Musk commandeered DOGE to cull out wasteful spending and corrupt programs.

What the GOP must now do is propose a rescission bill to approve the cuts, which requires only simple majorities in both chambers of Congress. Likely the White House will continue to roll up as much spending as possible by the DOGE team to include it in one bill. Technically, those funds do not have to be spent until the end of the budget cycle, but the programs involved have beneficiaries who will drag the administration into court well before then. The White House could consider a series of rescissions to achieve the same purpose.

Politically, though, this is a clear winner for Trump and DOGE.
