Quick Takes from the Past 24-48 Hours

The following is an installment of Trump-Vance team accomplishments (each article is linked for further info):

1. General Motors to Slash Production at Canadian Manufacturing Plant Over Trump Tariffs

American automotive giant General Motors (GM) is cutting back on production at a truck plant which produces Chevrolet Silverados in Oshawa, Ontario.

GM said an “evolving trade environment” and “lower demand” led to the decision to end a shift this fall at the plant, however, President Trump’s auto import tariff was no doubt the impetus behind the change.

According to the union representing affected workers, the change will result in around 750 employees being laid off.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford said the news from GM is “extremely tough for the workers in Oshawa and their families.”

Ford then blamed Trump’s tariffs for causing “economic uncertainty and chaos.”

Trump’s 25% tariff on auto imports has sent car manufacturers scrambling to move production to the United States or cut back on production costs.

Last month, GM announced to its staff it would ramp up production of light-duty trucks at its assembly plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The increased production at the Fort Wayne plant promises to add more temporary jobs and increase overtime opportunities for employees.

More positive news, Bloomberg reported:

German automaker Mercedes-Benz announced Thursday it will be adding a “core vehicle segment” to its factory in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai announced a $21 billion investment in the United States over the next four years, and Trump said “tariffs very strongly work.”

His goal is to bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States.

2. GenZer Explains Why Her Generation ‘Will Never Vote Liberal Again’

The last four years really had a dramatic effect on America and this (Gen Z) generation. The number of riots, the number of illegals coming into the country, rising home prices, etc., etc.

Liberal ideologies do not favor working class Americans who desire to be entrepreneurs, to own a business, and want to have a family on one paycheck because the liberal class favors progressive ideologies, which in no way favor the independent working man or woman to climb the ladder.

The majority of Americans can’t even afford eggs right now. Everybody is all of a sudden leaning towards being a trad wife, and all of a sudden, women are realizing that it actually kind of sucks being controlled by all these feminist ideologies, and people are trying to bring back families.

You can see how desperate our generation is for truth, and just to go back to what it used to be for our other parents’ generations and the way they grew up.

So, no, I don’t think the new generation that is well-informed will ever vote liberal ever again.

3. China Mulls Fentanyl Offer to U.S. to Start Trade Talks

China is a main supplier of the ingredients which are used in making fentanyl, the drug behind a national crisis President Trump used as justification to slap an additional 10% tariff on Chinese imports in March.

According to the report:

In recent days, China’s minister of public security, Wang Xiaohong, has asked the Trump administration what it wants to see from Beijing.

Further:

Wang could meet with Trump administration officials in the U.S. or a third country for further discussions.

And:

China would first like to see some softening and ‘sincerity’ from Trump on the 145% tariffs he has slapped on the country.

Yun Sun, director of the China program at the Stimson Center, a Washington think tank, told the Journal:

Fentanyl can be the icebreaker for the two countries to start with a more positive tone.

The Journal reported:

From the outset of his new administration, Trump has blamed China for the fentanyl crisis and framed his tariffs around that.

Amanda Hsiao, director of the political-risk consulting firm Eurasia Group’s China practice, told the Journal:

Beijing sees fentanyl cooperation as a favor to the U.S. that they are willing to offer when there is an understanding in place that both sides seek stability in the relationship.

4. Trump Takes Aim at National Endowment for the Arts

President Trump proposed eliminating the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities in the proposed budget he released Friday, taking aim once again at two agencies he had tried and failed to cut during his first term.

If Congress defunds these organizations, of course, that will make the job less complicated. And there are any number of smaller government-funded entities which could and should be defunded into the bargain:

The endowments, along with the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences, were among the entities listed in a section titled ‘small agency eliminations’ in his budget blueprint for the next fiscal year. The document said that the proposal was ‘consistent with the president’s efforts to decrease the size of the federal government to enhance accountability, reduce waste, and reduce unnecessary governmental entities’ and noted that Mr. Trump’s past budget proposals had ‘also supported these eliminations.

The arts endowment, established in 1965, is a federal agency that distributes grants to arts organizations and state arts agencies across the country. Its budget was $207 million in 2024, and its financial report that year said it had provided more than $163 million in grants.

A nation in debt by approximately $37 trillion must set aside the exacto blade and make broadaxe cuts.

5. What These Black Trump Supporters Said on CNN Obliterated This Anti-Trump Myth

The propaganda media had run with Great Depression 2.0 following Liberation Day and the new tariff policy in April. Ultimately, all initial losses from the shock and projected market reset have been regained, and then some.

The jobs report today soared above expectations. Unemployment remains at 4.2 percent. What are these people smoking? With the manufactured economic turmoil, another narrative was threaded: Trump voter regret.

That is not the case. It was never remotely true, and the people pushing it lacked credibility. It was either legacy media types or rabid anti-Trump Republicans. These people do not know any MAGA folks. None. And CNN exposed that, not once, but twice.

It is a sign that the base isn’t leaving the president. Frank Luntz found that out, too. And now CNN’s Van Jones spoke to black Trump supporters who would 1,000% vote for him again if allowed a do-over.

Trump voters are loyal. Liberal fantasy is the crack cocaine of American politics today. You get hooked on it, ending with the inevitable spiraling out. The first step to recovery is admitting you’re wrong and your agenda sucks. Liberals cannot seem to do that, which will contribute to their further losing.

6. J.D. Vance Was Asked, ‘Who Leads Democrats?’ And His Answer Did Not Disappoint

Friday on Special Report with Bret Baier the host asked Vice President Vance whether he believes Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could be the new face of the party.

The Vice President stated:

I think to the extent the Democrats have a leader, Donald J. Trump is the leader of the Democratic Party.

Further:

Because they’re just against everything that he does. Who could possibly disagree with rebuilding American manufacturing and ensuring these steelworkers have higher wages and better jobs?

And:

But any time Donald Trump does anything, they have this emotional response, they have to be against. Who could disagree with deporting millions of illegal aliens, many of whom are violent criminals? But they do, they have.

NOTE: In March, a CNN/SSRS poll revealed the democrat party communist/globalist crime syndicate had dropped to a 29% approval rating—its lowest on record—marking a 20-point decline since January 2021. Among respondents, over 30% said they could not name a leader who “best reflects the core values.” Of those who did, 10% named Ocasio-Cortez, 9% selected What’s-Her-Name, 8% chose Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, and 6% wrote in House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
