Quick Takes from the Past 24-48 Hours

The following is an installment of Trump-Vance team accomplishments (each article is linked for further info):

1. DOJ Announces Major Bust: 205 Child Predators Arrested, 115 Children Rescued

The massive nationwide five-day operation saw all 55 FBI field offices involved in the sting.

FBI Director Kash Patel said:

[Operation Restore Justice’s] success proves no predator is out of reach and no child will be forgotten.

Further:

Every child deserves to grow up free from fear and exploitation, and the FBI will continue to be relentless in our pursuit of those who exploit the most vulnerable among us.

And:

By leveraging the strength of all our field offices and our federal, state, and local partners, we’re sending a clear message: there is no place to hide for those who prey on children.

In the press release, the DOJ added:

Those arrested are alleged to have committed various crimes, including the production, distribution, and possession of child sexual abuse material, online enticement and transportation of minors, and child sex trafficking.

Further:

In Minneapolis, for example, a state trooper and Army Reservist was arrested for allegedly producing child sexual abuse material while wearing his uniform.

In Norfolk, VA, an illegal alien from Mexico is accused of transporting a minor across state lines for sex.

In Washington, D.C., a former Metropolitan Police Department Police Officer was arrested for allegedly trafficking minor victims.

In one example, a California man was arrested after his victim told FBI agents about the abuse. The victim spoke with agents after an online safety presentation at the child’s school near Albany, New York.

And the list goes on.

Hailing the success of the bust, Attorney General Pam Bondi said:

The Department of Justice will never stop fighting to protect victims—especially child victims—and we will not rest until we hunt down, arrest, and prosecute every child predator who preys on the most vulnerable among us.

2. Unemployment Claims Fall More Than Expected

The total number of Americans receiving unemployment benefits for the week of April 26 fell to 1.88 million, a decrease of 29,000.

Like his pledge to institute tariffs, Trump’s promise to drastically downsize the federal government workforce has occupied much of the early weeks of his presidency and is still in motion.

It is unclear when the job cuts ordered by DOGE will surface in the weekly layoffs data. However, the federal government staff reductions are already being felt, even outside of the Washington, D.C. area.

Despite showing some signs of weakening during the past year, the labor market remains robust with plentiful jobs and relatively few layoffs.

Last week the government reported that U.S. employers added a surprisingly strong 177,000 jobs in April. The unemployment rate held at a historically healthy 4.2%, however, many economists anticipate a negative impact from trade wars will materialize this year for American workers.

Companies that have announced job cuts this year include Workday, Dow, CNN, Starbucks, Southwest Airlines, and Facebook parent company Meta.

The Labor Department reported the four-week average of claims, which evens out some of the week-to-week gyrations, inched up by 1,000 to 227,000.

3. America Is Winning: After Days of Denying Any Talks Were Taking Place, Beijing IS Eager to Talk

Long before Trump’s tariffs, billionaire investor Kyle Bass was saying communist China is in big trouble.

Specifically, communist China sends us $440 billion in goods and we send them $140 billion in goods. Bass said:

In a tit-for-tat trade war, we win every time… The pain is much greater on their side than our side.

Bass is right. Communist China has massive youth unemployment. Protests are breaking out because Trump’s tariffs have shut down Chinese manufacturing, while American manufacturers are “going like gangbusters.”

Bass also said:

[C]ommunist China is lying [that’s what communists do] about its economic strength.

Again, Bass is right. The Wall Street Journal noted it is difficult to tell how bad China’s economy is because “the data needed to answer is vanishing.”

With no explanation, Chinese officials stopped “publishing hundreds of data points once used by researchers and investors.” The communist Chinese would not be “disappearing” the data if the news was good. Further suggesting bad data, Beijing launched a series of sweeping measures to boost its collapsing economy.

China expert Gordon Chang has said Xi is losing power. Xi reportedly tried to take control of the People’s Liberation Army, but Chang reports a leading rival to Xi is “effectively running the People’s Liberation Army … the most important faction of the [Chinese Communist Party].”

Now, after days of denying any talks were taking place, Beijing is eager to talk.

4. Ten People Trump Will Be Sending to the Reopened Alcatraz

Apologies to those offended by a Babylon Bee-sourced article. However, America is guaranteed to be a safer, brighter place with these lying, conniving, back-stabbing, anti-American ingrates locked up behind bars.

With the whole nation abuzz with President Trump’s proposal to reopen and expand Alcatraz, We the People excitedly ask, ‘Who, exactly, would be vile and dangerous enough to be imprisoned there?’

The Babylon Bee has been given the following list of people Trump will send to a new-and-improved Alcatraz:

  1. Every person who attended the Met Gala: High crimes against fashion warrant severe penalties.
  2. Kathleen Kennedy: For the murder of Star Wars and millions of childhoods.
  3. Skeletor: He has a skull for a face. That seems dangerous.
  4. The guy who came up with multi-factor authentication: Even the darkest, dirtiest solitary confinement is too nice.
  5. Liz Cheney et al unselect committee members: Traitors must be punished.
  6. The Hamburglar: Decades of stealing hamburgers have finally caught up with him.
  7. Losers and Haters: Get ‘em outta here.
  8. Nicolas Cage: It was really entertaining when he was sent there last time.
  9. The entire panel from The View: They must be kept away from decent, law-abiding citizens.
  10. (Substitute) Dr. Anthony Fauci and everyone involved in the COVID-19 mass murder. They know who they are.

NOTE: This is merely a start. The convictions, executions, and imprisonments must come to seem never-ending.

5. ‘Both Countries Will Become Stronger’: Trump’s Trade Deal Will Give U.S. More Access To U.K. Economy

The agreement will allow the United States to gain increased market access in the United Kingdom—the sixth-largest economy in the world—for billions of dollars worth of American exports, according to the president.

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who spoke to the president over the phone, told Trump he is “really pleased” with the deal between the two allies. The final details are still being worked out, but Trump will keep some tariffs in place on British imports. The president emphasized the deal would boost both countries’ industrial bases and help protect steel.

Shortly after announcing the deal, President Trump posted a chart on social media, showing Britain’s tariffs on U.S. goods will drop to 1.8% while “reciprocal tariffs” on the United Kingdom will remain at 10%. Trump said other nations should not view the 10% tariff on Britain as a template for how the administration will negotiate future deals.

Asked by Daily Wire White House Reporter Mary Margaret Olohan if the trade deal includes any assurances from Britain to protect free speech and freedom of religion, Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the agreement is solely focused on the economy.
