Hey look, the Brett Kavanaugh Circus is still in town. A woman who claimed that the Supreme Court Justice raped her has admitted she lied. Shockingly, she is a left-wing activist who says she did it because she was opposed to Kavanugh’s nomination and she wanted attention. She’s probably regretting that cry for attention because the Senate Judiciary Committee has referred her lie to the Justice Department. Apparently it’s some kind of crime to present false accusations to the US Senate.
If you remember, every leftist and their second cousin was leveling unsubstantiated claims of sexual assault against Brett Kavanaugh during his SCOTUS confirmation hearings. One of those came in the form of an anonymous letter sent to California Senator Kamala Harris. The letter was undated and hand written, alleging that Kavanaugh and an unnamed friend raped this anonymous woman in the back seat of a car. There were no details of where and when this was supposed to have happen. The letter was signed by “Jane Doe” from Oceanside, CA.
The Senate Judiciary Committee asked Kavanaugh about this allegation and he denied it ever happened, calling it a “crock” and a “farce.”
On October 3, the Committee received an e-mail from a woman named Judy Munro-Leighton, who claimed to be Jane Doe from Oceanside, CA. She wrote that she was, “sharing with you the story of the night that Brett Kavanaugh and his friend sexually assaulted and raped me in his car.” She made reference to the hand-written letter sent to Kamala Harris and provided a typed version of it.
Munro-Leighton also wrote “I know that “Jane Doe” will get no media attention, but I am deathly afraid of revealing any information about myself or my family.”
The Committee was unable to get Munro-Leighton to respond to further e-mails so they began investigating her and found out some very interesting information. First, she’s a fairly well-know leftist agitator and activist. She also has never lived in the Washington DC area or California, but rather lives in Kentucky. She is also decades older than Brett Kavanaugh.
The Committee was able to track down her phone number and eventually got her on the phone. A Committee investigator asked her about the allegations of rape she made against Kavanaugh and she admitted she made it all up. She added, “I did that as a way to grab attention.”
She told the Committee investigator that she had called the Senate several times to express her opposition to Kavanaugh’s nomination. Out of frustration she claimed to be a victim of his, calling it a “ploy” and a “tactic.” She said she sent the e-mail out of anger and when asked if she had ever met Judge Kavanaugh she replied, “Oh Lord, no.”
Munro-Leighton says she is not the original author of the hand-written “Jane Doe” letter, but that she read about it in the news and used it as a way to try to stop Kavanaugh’s confirmation. Obviously it didn’t work because Kavanaugh was confirmed but Munro-Leighton isn’t walking away empty-handed.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley detailed all of this in a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions, asking him to launch a Justice Department investigation of Munro-Leighton. Grassley noted, “It is illegal to make materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statements to Congressional investigators. It is illegal to obstruct Committee investigations.”
This leftist kook wanted attention and now she’s going to get it. She might even get more attention inside of a prison where, despite what they show on Orange is the New Black, lefty loonies aren’t loved and revered.
