We can now add “school safety” to the long list of things that are racist. The NAACP is accusing a Florida school district of a “racist act” for conducting active shooter drills at all county schools. How is an active shooter drill racist? Well, because in one of the drills, black men were used as the mock shooters. In related news, fire drills are also racist if a black person is the one who pulls the fire alarm.
The Gainesville Sun reports that the Suwannee County School District conducted active shooter drills at all schools on Wednesday and Friday. This safety excerise is mandated by a Florida law passed in the wake of the Parkland school shooting last February.
NAACP Suwannee Country chapter president Alonzo Philmore fired off an angry email to the school district superintendent complaining about the racism of it all:
“As we all know or should know that not one black person has committed a mass shooting in the USA in schools or any other venue. The act of identifying the acting perpetrators as black males upset the black student population so much that a vast majority complained to their parents,” wrote Philmore.
We all know that not one black person has committed a mass shooting in any venue? What about the Washington DC Navy Yard shooter? In 2013 Aaron Alexis shot and killed 12 people at the headquarters of the Naval Sea Systems Command. 12 fatalities equals a mass shooting, the Navy Yard qualifies as a venue, and Alexis was black.
Also, these stats are are bullshit, but as the news points out, there is more than one black mass shooter:
Since 1982, according to a Mother Jones database on mass shootings, blacks account for roughly 16 percent of mass shootings, while white men account for 54 percent. The rest were by Asians, Latinos or “others.” Data from Statistica shows a white person was the shooter in about 60 percent of mass shootings, while blacks accounted for 16 percent.
Philmore also accused the district of not using any “Hispanics or whites” for the drills, something superintendent Ted Roush disputes.
Roush said the district used white, black and Hispanic men and women throughout the scenarios.
According to the news, 2 black men were used as mock shooters in the same drill. There are 10 schools in the Suwannee County district so that means of the 10 active shooter drills, one of them had black fake shooters. That also means that 90% of all drills didn’t have a black portraying a shooter.
The NAACP isn’t concerned with facts, when they can get a race-hustle going so Philmore also accused these drills of inspiring more racism:
“As you well know we are living in a very racially intense environment in the USA at the present. Any negative representation of a black male or blacks in general is welcomed by individuals with racist intentions,” Philmore wrote.
Interestingly enough the NAACP isn’t that concerned with the negative representation of black people that black people actually give. Blacks make up around 12% of the US population but are responsible for over 50% of all murders committed every year. That’s not a drill, that’s the reality of the streets.
The bottom line is that the NAACP is terribly upset with the Suwannee County School District for coming up with a fairly accurate school shooting drill. You just know that had they not used any black mock shooters, the NAACP would have fired off any angry email complaining that blacks were excluded. That’s how the race-hustle works: no matter what, it’s racist.
