A Whole Lotta Bull: Liberals Try To Smear Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith As Racist

In an effort to derail conservative Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination, democrats attempted a last minute character assassination by falsely accusing him of being a sexual predator. It didn’t work, but it almost did and that gave liberals hope. In Mississippi there is a special election for US Senate on Tuesday and democrats are hoping to steal a deep red seat by attacking the character of Republican candidate Cindy Hyde-Smith with false accusations of racism. The democrats are spraying racism from both barrels barrels of a scattergun in their latest act of “drive-by” democracy.

Cindy Hyde-Smith was appointed in April to fill retired Republican Sen. Thad Cochran’s seat. On Tuesday she faces off against democrat Mike Espy in a run-off election. Democrats didn’t have much hope of winning this seat until they came up with a plan to paint Hyde-Smith as the most racist politician in Mississippi since the good ole days when democrats were in charge of the state. Hyde-Smith is white and Espy is black, so this last ditch effort made perfect sense to the party of identity politics.

This started earlier this month when Hyde-Smith made a completely harmless comment. While talking about a supporter she said, “If he invited me to a public hanging, I’d be on the front row.”

Liberals went nuts over this comment and democrats pounced. They portrayed this as Hyde-Smith advocating the extrajudicial lynching of black people in the South, which is as dumb as it sounds. Hanging used to be the preferred method of execution for condemned criminals in the US and was not something exclusive to the black population. Blacks have tried to co-opt the hangman’s noose as a symbol of their oppression, but the fact is, most people who were hung to death were not black.

It gets dumber because Hyde-Smith’s statement in no way supports public hanging or lynching. Her line is meant to convey that she would do anything for this supporter, including attending something unpleasant. She used a public hanging as the example, because that was the most distasteful thing she could think of. She has also denied that her statement had any racial connotations whatsoever.

The left wasn’t quite done trying to smear Hyde-Smith as they breathlessly cried that she attended *gasp* a private girl’s high school. The Jackson Free Press reported that Hyde-Smith went to the Lawrence County Academy, which they describe as a “segregation school.”

“Hyde-Smith Attended All-White ‘Seg Academy’ to Avoid Integration,” screams the headline. The idea they want to promote is that as a teenager Cindy Hyde-Smith sent herself to an all-white school so she wouldn’t have to integrate with black students. It’s more likely this was a decision that her parents made, but that upsets the liberal narrative.

Mississippi was slow to integrate and in 1969 the feds ordered them to desegregate all public schools or else. Then-governor John Bell Williams hatched an ingenious plan to promote private schools for white students so they didn’t have to learn along side blacks. Get ready for a shock: Gov. Williams was a democrat. Whatever racism blame there is for these schools lies solely with the democrats in charge and not a teenage girl who attended one of them.

The liberal case for Hyde-Smith’s “racism” is nonexistent, but it’s working. Fox News reports that several high-profile donor are buying the lie and demanding she return campaign contributions. Walmart wants its $2000 back saying Hyde-Smith doesn’t represent the values of the company. Major League Baseball wants its $5000 back citing the “controversial comments.” Boston Scientific also wants their contribution back because Hyde-Smith is “perceived to be divisive.”

This is the kind of sleaze the democrats deal in as their normal method of operation. They attempt to destroy peoples lives with lies so they can trick low-information voters into installing them in office. They repeat their baseless attacks enough that, no matter how fact-free they are, people begin to believe them. It’s not like democrats can get elected in most places by telling the truth, so they have to do something.
