Ogden police release video of deadly officer-involved shooting
(KUTV) — The Ogden Police Department has released surveillance video of Friday’s deadly officer involved shooting.
Police shot and killed kidnapping suspect, 37-year-old Richard Galvan, who had an extensive criminal history including felony kidnapping, assault, child abuse, assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon and theft.
“You will see his actions were intended to engage the police officers with gunfire,” Ogden Police Chief Steven Watt said.
Galvan had two outstanding warrants, one out of El Paso, Texas and the other out of Denver, Colorado.
Police say Galvan moved to Ogden last year, and is a known gang member.
Correction, he was a known gang member. Now he’s just a stiff with even less gray matter than the minuscule amount he previously had inside his skull.
Little is known about the 38-year-old female victim, who lives in Weber County.
Police say it started hours before with a hostage situation between Galvan and a woman he met on social media.
The woman wanted to end things, and that’s when it all escalated, according to police.
Police say the armed suspect entered into the victim’s home Friday morning.
Later in the day, police say Galvan forced the victim to drive him around town while he was talking about suicide and homicide.
At some point, he jumped out of the car and walked away.
“As soon as he got out of the car and she turn northbound she immediately began flashing her lights and honking her horn looking for a cop. She was trying to get attention,” Ogden Police Chief Steven Watt said.
Police caught up with Galvan near 25th Street and Washington Blvd. just after 6:00 p.m., Friday night.
That’s when Galvan allegedly started firing multiple shots at the officers.
Nothing alleged about it. You can clearly see thug boy shooting first, albeit with very poor accuracy.
He struck one police vehicle in the windshield, but the shots missed the officer inside.
Police returned fire, hitting Galvan in the head, killing him.
Two officers are on paid administrative leave and the Weber County Critical Investigation Team is handling the shooting aspect of the situation.
Police are currently looking at body camera footage to learn more details of the shooting.
And down goes yet another thug. He went down harder and faster than Frosty the Snowman when the sun comes out. Hey let’s sing some of that classic song, shall we?

The big difference between him and Frosty though is that this thug won’t be back again someday.
