Report: Bankruptcy Looms As Boy Scouts Crushed By Left’s Culture War

It’s not only statues that the socialist swine are hellbent on destroying but like a ravenous column of Formosan termites, the left is chewing through the very foundations of western society and they’re only finished with the appetizers.

Yet another American institution may have fallen victim to the left’s relentless culture wars as a bombshell report has indicated that the Boy Scouts Of America is facing bankruptcy.

The venerable organization was bullied into accepting girls last year and announced a rebranding to the more inclusive “BSA” which would go into effect in early 2019, the first such overhaul in its storied 108-year history.

The shift was another easy win for those seeking to make others to bow to their ideology which could be accurately described as “forced diversity” as the left works to remake America in their own image with scant resistance.

Not that the admission of females and the name change is the only reason why the Boy Scouts have run into troubled times but its almost certainly a major contributor as the Wall Street Journal report cites a declining membership as well as a myriad of sexual assault allegations that are pushing the organization into the potential bankruptcy.

Via The Hill, “Boy Scouts considering filing for bankruptcy after sex abuse scandals”:

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has reportedly hired a Washington, D.C.-based law firm to help the organization navigate potential Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the organization has hired law firm Sidley Austin to navigate possible Chapter 11 filings, though no official announcement has been made yet.

The Journal points to the organization’s recent court defeats, including a $18.5 million payout in 2010 to a Scout who came forward with allegations of sexual abuse dating back to the 1980s, as a key reason for financial troubles in BSA, while the Scouts are also facing declining membership numbers.

In a statement on the Scouts’ website, Chief Scout Executive Mike Surbaugh wrote that the group was “working with experts to explore all options” to ensure the Scouts’ programs continued “uninterrupted.”

Additional details according to the Wall Street Journal, “Boy Scouts of America Considers Bankruptcy Filing Amid Sex-Abuse Lawsuits”:

Participation in the organization’s programs has fallen in recent years, though the group opened some of its programs to girls and transgender boys. The Boy Scouts currently have more than 2.3 million youth members. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, formerly one of the group’s largest sponsors, has said it will withdraw from Boy Scout programs. The church said it would develop its own program for young men.

The Boy Scouts group has drawn scrutiny over its slow pace to become more inclusive, including by lifting a ban in 2015 on gay men and lesbians serving in leadership roles.

The group has also dealt with fallout from its decision last year to expand its recruitment of girls, putting it in competition with the Girl Scouts of the USA, a separate group that offers similar programming and has also seen membership fall.

In November, the Girl Scouts filed a trademark lawsuit against the organization, saying its push for girls to join caused confusion and led to instances in which parents mistakenly signed their children up for Boy Scouts programs.

A Boy Scouts spokeswoman said the group is reviewing the lawsuit and that the expansion came “after years of requests from families who wanted” to participate in its programs.

The bad news follows the shocking decision of the Mormon Church to sever its longtime ties to the Boy Scouts and a multitude of other disturbing developments such as the requirement that the upcoming World Scout Jamboree make condoms available to those attending in accordance with global guidelines.

Whether the organization can survive the turbulence of the cultural earthquake remains to be seen.
