America just got a little less American as the new Congress was seated on Thursday. A Muslim democrat not only showed up wearing some traditional Palestinian smock-looking thing, she was sworn on a copy of the Koran. Of course the liberal media s swooning over this “empowering” symbolism, but really it just shows how completely whacko the democratic party is. The United States is not the UN or even the It’s a Small World ride at Disneyland. At least it shouldn’t be.
When freshman Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib was sworn in today, she took her oath on a copy of the Koran, Islam’s holy book. In an interview with CNN she explained why it was so important to be so offensive to this country and its institutions.
“I like that it’s kind of pushing against the stereotype that somehow we’re new to this country,” said Tlaib.
I’m not sure this chock knows what a stereotype is. There is no “Mulsims are new to this country” stereotype. Terrorists? Female genital mutilators? Beheaders? Yeah, those are stereotypes, but definitely not the “new” thing.
According to The Detroit Free Press, Tlaib will be sworn in on Thomas Jefferson’s copy of the Koran, which makes her believe that Muslims helped found this country.
“It’s important to me because a lot of Americans have this kind of feeling that Islam is somehow foreign to American history. Muslims were there at the beginning. … Some of our founding fathers knew more about Islam than some members of Congress now,” Tlaib said.
Just because Thomas Jefferson had a Quran doesn’t mean he was Muslim. It also doesn’t mean that Muslims helped found our nation because some of the Founding Fathers knew about Islam. For the record, Islam has nothing to do with American history other than more recent events like 9/11 and our war on terrorism.

It’s bad enough that she’s trying to redraw the map making Israel into Palestine, but the fact that the arrow is actually pointing at Egypt is idiotic.
As The Hill reports, when Tlaib showed up to the House today for her swearing in, she was decked out in Palestinian gear:
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), one of the first two Muslim congresswomen ever elected in the U.S., wore a traditional Palestinian gown on Thursday as she was sworn into Congress.
The Michigan Democrat was captured wearing the traditional thobe ahead of her own swearing-in as she cheered for freshman representatives being sworn in from her seat on Thursday.
It is custom for Palestinian women to wear hand-embroidered gowns. The gowns are considered another way Palestinian women can show pride for their heritage and typically represents the city the person wearing the clothing is from.
“This is what I want to bring to the United States Congress, an unapologetic display of the fabric of the people in this country,” said Tlaib.
So a garment designed specifically for Palestinian women represents all of the people in the United States? I told you she is stupid.
Making this dumber, Tlaib isn’t even from Palestine. She was born and raised in Detroit. Her parents are from Palestine which makes her of Palestinian descent. This would be like if Steve Scalise showed up to his swearing in dressed in a toga because his family comes from Italy. She’s an American and it’s time she started acting like it.
While the liberal media is treating Tlaib’s un-American shenanigans as the feel-good story of the year, they wouldn’t be quite as pleased if a politician with European roots celebrated his heritage in a similar fashion. Imagine if a Republican of German descent showed up to Congress dressed in lederhosen and swore in on a Schönsperger German language Bible. CNN would literally call this imaginary Congressman a Nazi.
