This weekend brought the announcement of 3 democratic presidential campaigns that nobody asked for and already one of them seems done. Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard gave a who-gives-a-f*ck announcement that she’s running for president in 2020 on Saturday and by Sunday liberals were accusing her of homophobia. That’s about as quick as Kevin Hart was the host for the Oscars, but it ain’t all bad news. Gabbard wasn’t going to win the Democratic Party nomination anyways and now she has plenty of time to hang out with her BFF Bashar al-Assad.
This weekend former Obama stooge Julian Castro said he’s running in 2020 as did dumb blonde Kristen Gillibrand. As if those announcements weren’t underwhelming enough, Tulsi Gabbard threw her headscarf into the ring. Who? You may rememberer Gabbard as the democrat who went to hang out with Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad just before he used chemical weapons on his own people in 2017.
But that was so 2 years ago so now she wants to see the American people bombed with chemical weapons, namely her own bullshit. The Hill reports:
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) said…she has decided to run for president in 2020.
“I have decided to run and will be making a formal announcement within the next week,” said Gabbard.
Isn’t announcing that she’s running for president a formal announcement?
“There are a lot of reasons for me to make this decision. There are a lot of challenges that are facing the American people that I’m concerned about and that I want to help solve,” Gabbard said.
She listed access to health care, criminal justice reform and climate change as key issues.
“There is one main issue that is central to the rest, and that is the issue of war and peace. I look forward to being able to get into this and to talk about it in depth when we make our announcement,” said Gabbard.
But apparently there is another issue that’s even more important to liberals that may have already sunk her candidacy. The Huffington Post reports that she used to be kind of a homophobe. Not really, but according to liberals she was.
It’s been one day since Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) announced she was running for president in the 2020 election, and parts of her conservative past are already coming back to haunt her.
Those come in the form of homophobic remarks the congresswoman made over a decade ago. At least twice the Hawaii Democrat publicly called the LGBTQ community and supporters of same-sex marriage “homosexual extremists.”
In one instance in February 2004, Gabbard, at the time a 22-year-old state representative, was testifying against a bill aimed at legalizing same-sex civil unions.
“To try to act as if there is a difference between ‘civil unions’ and same-sex marriage is dishonest, cowardly and extremely disrespectful to the people of Hawaii. As Democrats, we should be representing the views of the people, not a small number of homosexual extremists,” said Gabbard.
Six months later, Gabbard spoke more candidly while replying to an email originally sent to her father, Mike Gabbard, who was a Republican city councilman in Honolulu running for Congress.
“I smell a skunk,” Gabbard told Honolulu Magazine. She was responding to an email that was originally addressed to her father asking about his ties to the leader of a Hare Krishna movement in Hawaii, according to the magazine.
“It’s clear to me that you’re acting as a conduit for The Honolulu Weekly and other homosexual extremist supporters of Ed Case [Mike Gabbard’s opponent],” wrote Gabbard.
So Gabbard was once against same-sex marriage and now she’s for it? That’s basically how all democrats have “evolved” on this and every other issue. They are against something until it becomes politically expedient and then they are for it. It’s called being full of shit and having no real principals or beliefs or, in other words, simply being a democrat.
This shouldn’t be a big deal, Hillary Clinton was against gay marriage before she was for it, but the democrats will use it as an excuse to disqualify Tulsi Gabbard. The last thing they want is a relatively young woman of color representing their party in 2020, when there’s so many awesome rich old white guys like Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders to showcase their diversity.
