Let’s be honest: it doesn’t really matter what President Trump does on Martin Luther King Day, black people are going to be pissed. If he threw a big banquet honing MLK, they’d say he was a racist and it was disrespectful. If he did nothing, they’d say it was racist and disrespectful. As it turns out, the President sent out a nice message about MLK’s legacy and of course Al Sharpton is pissed, accusing Trump of shutting down the holiday. There is no winning with shameless race hustlers and it’s time everyone stopped trying.
According to The New York Post, Sharpton got his Trump-rage on at a National Action Network breakfast that was supposed to honor MLK:
“There is no official event at the White House to celebrate Martin Luther King Day. This is an insult to the American people that the president of the United States does not officially recognize or give any ceremony for Dr. King,” screamed Sharpton.
I’m an American and I don’t feel insulted by this and not because it’s not true, but rather Martin Luther King Day is a dumb holiday. His contributions to this country aren’t significant enough to warrant a holiday, especially since there are so many great Americans who aren’t recognized at all. Where’s Thomas Jefferson Day? Where’s Ben Franklin Day? Even George Washington and Abraham Lincoln have to share a day and yet MLK get’s his own day? Bullshit.
There’s also the little problem with the fact that the democrats have shut down the government because they want to make sure our borders remain unprotected to let in a steady flow of illegal immigrants and drugs. Weirdly enough, during a government shutdown, there’s no money for silly celebrations at the White House. This is something that Sharpton mentioned in a very Sharpton way:
“The White House has not only shut down those workers, they’ve shut down the King holiday,” said Sharpton.
Again, it is the democrats who have shut down the government, but the MLK holiday still exists. There are parades all across the country in our nation’s shittiest neighborhoods honoring King.
Plus, Trump actually did acknowledge MLK, contrary to Sharpton’s claim:

And the White House also acknowledged MLK:

Finally, Trump didn’t have any ceremonies for MLK Day last year either, when the government wasn’t shut down because he understands that any attempt to honor King would be met with outrage from black activists, race-hustlers, and leftist lunatics.
Because of the givernemnet shutdown there are no service employees at the White House, making a celebration nearly impossible. Recently the President hosted that National Champion Clemson football team and served them fast food that he paid for out of his own pocket. This was met with accusations of racism, so imagine how many liberal heads would explode if he invited some black civil rights leaders and served them KFC. Or even worse, if he paid for a bunch of Chick-Fil-A. Not only would he be slammed for racism, they’d go off on him for being a homophobe too.
Doing anything or nothing for MLK Day is a lose-lose situation for Trump and he knows it. He actually handled it it the best possible way, allowing for the least amount of shit from the left. No plan is perfect and there’s no accounting for Al Sharpton’s bullshit, but all-in-all the President did a good job here.
