Because there can never be enough outrage to satisfy social justice warriors’ diet for things to be outraged about, they all looked to last night’s Super Bowl to find more fodder. And they found it, all right. Even the liberals are hating on them now.
First, let Nipplegate II begin.
Maroon 5 performer goes shirtless in Super Bowl show, but people question double standard
Janet Jackson fans took to social media on Sunday to question to point out the apparent irony of Maroon 5’s Adam Levine going bare chested during the Super Bowl LIII halftime show Sunday night, while Janet Jackson was slammed for a wardrobe malfunction accident during her Super Bowl XXXVIII set with Justin Timberlake in 2004.
During the show, Levine, 39, took off his shirt while playing guitar, leaving plenty of people across social media questioning the double standard, according to PEOPLE.
Jackson, 52, was smeared and blackballed after Timberlake went to remove her corset and accidentally exposed her breast. Although Timberlake and Jackson issued apologies, the Federal Communications Commission slapped CBS with a $550,000 indecency fine for the incident, referred to as “Nipplegate.”
Before Timberlake performed at the 2018 Super Bowl, he said both he and Jackson made amends, although Jackson has not been invited back to perform at another Super Bowl.
Freeing her nipple aside, Janet Jackson probably hasn’t been invited back to the Super Bowl because when was the last time she was relevant? She hasn’t released an album since 2015 and it was a small miracle she was invited to the 2004 Super Bowl as well.
And that reminds me. Allow me to be offended now too. I didn’t watch the show last night, and I don’t know who chooses these acts to perform at half-time shows, but they haven’t picked them to suit the fans’ taste for a long time. See, it seems to me the majority of the crowds are white males.
The teams seem to understand this. If you listen to the music played over the P.A. systems of regular season NFL games during time outs, before kick-offs, etc., it’s almost always heavy metal, classic rock, or hard rock. You hear a lot of Ozzy Osbourne, Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC, Rolling Stones, etc. But when was the last time anyone like that was asked to play a Super Bowl show? I think you have to go back to 2011 when Slash made a brief appearance or, grudgingly because I hate them, 2014 when the Red Hot Chili Peppers played. Everything since then has played to the SJW’s pallet. Anyway, now I’ve vented my outrage. Back to the real stuff.
Last night’s performance by Adam Levine appeared to open new wounds.
See, it’s so unfair that he could free his nipples and Janet couldn’t. Well, gee. Not to defend them, but that’s not the NFL’s fault. There are laws against what, and as the current social mores dictate, is considered indecent exposure. Right or wrong. The FCC is the one you ought to be pointing your fingers at, not the NFL. And speaking of that, all these SJWs have been constantly attacking Maroon 5 for even performing at the Super Bowl because of how racist and oppressive the NFL is, but how many attacked black rapper Big Boi for being there? I couldn’t find any.
But he shouldn’t feel left out because he offended PETA by wearing an enormous fur coat. They tweeted, “Hey, @BigBoi! The way you move is horrifying when animals have to DIE for your outfit.” Lib on lib violence. I love it.
The various forms of outrage went all the way to our black friends at The Root! Apparently, Deplorables are not the only ones boycotting the NFL. All properly “woke” black people must too. A writer there admitted to watching the game and also the entire season, justifying it by saying, “Not that I don’t care about institutional racism or criminal justice, I just didn’t care to make the NFL the place where I expressed my resistance to those pervasive elements of American society.”
Sounds pretty reasonable . . . NO! His readers blasted him for this sin. Some of ’em seemed like they wanted to lynch him!
One stated, “Asshattery, Jason Johnson. Unfortunately we cannot trade or release you. Oh wait, I can stop reading your posts just like I stopped watching the NFL. See, it’s not that difficult. ”
Another, “Actions have consequences, man. If you want to keep watching, fine, but acting aggrieved and aggravated because people call you on it is weak sauce. You made your bed, now lay in it.”
And, “The thing is, this is specifically about why Jason chooses to watch the NFL in spite of his colleagues and friend’s choosing not to. And once again; if he wants to watch, if anyone wants to watch, that’s his choice, cool, whatever. But whatever heat he catches is on him for it, period. It’s his cross to bear so he needs to own it instead of making excuses.”
And finally, the hypocrisy. I haven’t seen anyone attacking toad-faced black congressman John Lewis, or Dr. Bernice A. King, or U.S. Ambassador Andrew Young for participating in the coin toss and not taking a knee.
Nor do I see any outcry about the fact that the game was even able to take place. If ‘The Root’ is correct, and all woke blacks should not watch the NFL because of its racism, shouldn’t all the black players just quit playing? I think both teams losing about 80% of their rosters would have been a more powerful statement than taking a knee for a few times this season. So how much do you REALLY believe in your cause?
But, nah. They gotta make that money. How “woke” is that?
