Liberals Are Once Again Outraged At Something John Wayne Said In 1971

Back in 1971 John Wayne, the greatest American actor and one of the greatest Americans, said some things that aren’t quite as politically correct as today’s fragile liberals would like. 3 years ago they were outraged over the Duke’s words and apparently the liberal outrage cycle is 3 years because they are outraged again. The good news for liberals is they can re-outrage over all the stuff Donald Trump said in the lead up to the 2016 election like it’s brand new.

John Wayne was trending on Twitter today because some lefty crybabies rediscovered a 1971 Playboy interview with John Wayne. Among other things, the Duke said this:

“I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don’t believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people,” said Wayne.

Wayne also said things about gays and Native Americans that were terribly upsetting to the left and 48 years later, they erupted in tears on Twitter:

The thing is, back in 2016 this exact same outrage was going on in California as the democrats in charge voted down a John Wayne Day based on his statements from this 1971 Playboy interview. The Guardian reported it back then:

The state assembly defeated the official ode to John Wayne Thursday after several legislators described statements he made about racial minorities and his support for the anti-communist House Un-American Activities Committee and John Birch Society.

“He had disturbing views towards race,” objected assemblyman Luis Alejo, a Democrat, leading off a 20-minute debate.

Alejo cited a 1971 interview with Playboy in which Wayne talked disparagingly about black people.

Assemblyman Mike Gipson, who is black, said he found Wayne’s comments personally offensive.

Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez cited his comments defending white Europeans’ encroachment on American Indians who Wayne once said “were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves”.

Good lord, people! Do you really have nothing else to freak the f*ck out over? John Wayne has been dead for 40 years. This interview was from 1971. Times were different, views were different, and this has no relevance on anything. If liberals really want to be shocked by something someone said about black people a long time ago, they should look into LBJ’s statements.

If you don’t like John Wayne because of what he said, don’t watch his movies. Actually, I’d be willing to bet not one of the outraged liberals has ever seen a John Wayne movie, so what’s the problem?. My prediction is that in 2022, liberals are going to suddenly discover this Playboy interview and be outraged all over again, because that’s literally how stupid they are.
