Is it possible that a majority of Americans think that socialism sucks?
Things could already be looking bleak for Bernie Sanders who kicked off his latest presidential campaign in the Bronx on Saturday and while the audience was filled with true believers, a new poll is not a good omen for the 77-year-old socialist.
While his followers have a cultlike devotion to a career crank from an eccentric state who was irrelevant until he scared the bejesus out of Hillary Clinton in 2016, the larger population may be chilly to the idea joining the revolution because the appeal of his crackpot ideas may be limited.
The NBC/Wall Street Journal poll found that only 25 percent of respondents saw socialism as a “desirable trait” but in even worse news for the senator from Vermont, nearly one-third approved of someone over the age of 75 as president.

Via Bloomberg, “U.S. Voters Don’t Want Socialist or Very Old President: Poll”:
Americans are least favorable toward a presidential candidate who’s a socialist or older than 75, according to an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll that said President Donald Trump’s approval rating ticked up in the past month.
Only 25 percent of respondents ranked “socialist” as a desirable trait for a candidate. Only 37 percent said “someone over 75” was desirable, according to the survey, released on Sunday.
The poll comes as Democrats line up for a chance to take on Trump in the 2020 presidential election. It suggests that 41 percent of voters would definitely or probably vote for Trump in 2020, against 48 percent who said they would vote for the Democratic candidate.
Among the perceived front-runners for the Democratic nomination are former Vice President Joe Biden, 76, and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, 77. Trump is 72.
Heading toward the first 2020 nominating contests about a year from now, Democratic primary voters reported that they prefer a nominee who proposes policies that could bring major change over one suggesting less change by a 55 percent to 42 percent margin.
Throw in the fact that Bernie is a white man at a time when Democrats have become increasingly hostile to that particular demographic and the odds look even worse for not only Sanders but also for former VP Joe Biden.
While the poll isn’t entirely bad news for white males it is the kiss of death to any of them not named Beto if they are a Democrat. But even he may have a tough time as respondents were very approving of blacks, women, gays, and lesbians which could be expected given the overwhelming amount of importance that the political left has placed on identity politics.
The poll isn’t exactly good news for President Trump which could be expected given that average Americans have been all but electronically lobotomized by years of 24/7 propaganda, race-baiting and conspiracy mongering that has been put out by the corrupt media.
A million headlines and controversies, but the polling bottom line hasn’t changed much. https://t.co/hHFx9vrplk

According to NBC News:
A year and a half before the 2020 presidential election, President Donald Trump faces formidable obstacles in his bid for re-election, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.
Just four in 10 voters say they would re-elect him next year; 58 percent don’t think he’s been honest and truthful regarding the Russia probe; and 60 percent disapprove of his recent national emergency declaration to build a border wall.
But Democrats who want to defeat Trump have hurdles of their own. The president’s job rating remains stable with nearly 90 percent of Republicans approving of his job. And a majority of Americans remain confident in the economy, believing that there won’t be a recession in the next year.
Add it up, and 2020 is shaping up to be yet another close presidential race, say the Democratic and Republican pollsters who conducted the NBC/WSJ survey.
The importance of party loyalty for the president cannot be overstated and that loyalty is only going to become more solid once Democrats begin their bogus impeachment proceedings in an effort to eliminate Trump from contention so they won’t have to face him: just call it the Tonya Harding strategy.
Despite the distaste for socialism and old white men, Bernie’s Bolsheviks aren’t going to just up and surrender and a bitter primary battle looms with the DNC having already set a precedent for sabotaging Sanders.
It will only get uglier if Hillary Clinton jumps in which many see as inevitable with her staying active in social media and in the headlines. She also still has a formidable following of her own and God help the Democrats if it comes down to a battle between the opposing camps because it would splinter the party and hand the election to Trump.
