Lies, lies and more damned lies…
The pathetic saga of hate hoaxer Jussie Smollet continues to unfold with the actor maintaining his innocence despite an overwhelming amount of evidence that could land him behind bars for years.
On Thursday, the star of Fox’s popular television series “Empire” appeared in a Chicago courtroom where he pleaded not guilty to sixteen counts of felony disorderly conduct that were brought against him as a result of the indictments by a grand jury – one count for each time that he lied to police.
The charges stemmed from the January incident when Smollett claimed that he was attacked by two Trump supporters in red MAGA hats who beat him up, taunted him with homophobic and racial slurs, poured bleach on him and tied a rope around his neck.
.@JussieSmollett is one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know. I’m praying for his quick recovery.
This was an attempted modern day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate.

The media was quick to rush to judgment with their typical dishonest spin and two Democrat presidential candidates including frontrunner Kamala Harris described Smollett’s account as a modern-day “lynching” but the cops smelled a rat from the start.
The absence of surveillance video and Smollett’s refusal to allow police to examine his cellphone led to a thorough investigation that culminated in the game-changing arrest of the two brothers who the actor enlisted to assist him with his dastardly scam.

Sources say Jussie Smollet told brothers what to buy.

The brothers then sang like canaries and the jig was up for Smollett who was arrested and retained the services of high-powered celeb lawyer Mark Geragos.
Now Smollett has had his first of many days in court where in his typical entitled and unrepentant manner, exercised his celebrity privilege by refusing to accept responsibility for his crimes.

Via Fox News, “Jussie Smollett pleads not guilty to 16 counts of disorderly conduct stemming from alleged hate crime hoax”:
“Empire” actor Jussie Smollett pleaded not guilty in a Chicago courtroom Thursday to 16 charges stemming from an alleged hate crime hoax.
Smollett’s lawyer, Tina Glandian, entered the plea on Smollett’s behalf just hours after Judge Steven Watkins was assigned the case. The next court date was scheduled for April 17.
Smollett was initially charged with one count of lying to the authorities on Feb. 20. Last week, a grand jury indicted Smollett on 16 felony counts of lying to authorities — eight counts for what he told the officer who responded to the report of the Jan. 29 attack in downtown Chicago, and eight counts for what he later told a detective about being the victim of a brutal racist and homophobic beating by two masked men.
Police say Smollett, who is black and gay, staged the incident because he was unhappy with his salary on the Fox show and wanted to promote his career.
Look for Smollett’s legal team to play up the angle that their client is just another black man who has been unfairly persecuted by an oppressive system that has been rigged in favor of white people which could add to tensions in a city already boiling over with racial strife.
Geragos – who once defended Michael Jackson – called the indictments “vindictive” and “prosecutorial overkill” as well as went on CNN to claim that the actor was the victim of a “media gangbang” so you can see where this is going.

Smollett is due back in court next month and according to one of his attorneys, cameras will be welcomed into the courtroom as the strategy to try the case in the media continues to unfold.

It won’t be O.J. Simpson Part Two but the trial will be a media spectacle nonetheless.
