Corrupt Baltimore Mayor Takes Paid Leave Of Absence As Scandal Hits

It’s not corruption and abuse of the public trust – it’s racism!

These are trying times for one of America’s most controversial mayors who unsurprisingly just happens to be a Democrat whose city has deteriorated during her tenure.

When it comes to crime-ridden shitholes, few cities are in the same league as Baltimore, the historic seaport city that has gone to seed thanks to years of being ruled by corrupt Dems with few being more damaging to public safety and wellbeing than current Mayor Catherine Pugh.

The city that was famously portrayed in HBO’s gritty crime series The Wire is every bit as much a sewer of incompetence and political corruption in real life and Pugh has been a major reason as her priorities have catered to those who are race-obsessed social justice warriors at the expense of productive citizens who are fleeing the city in droves.

Among Pugh’s priorities have been the use of taxpayer money to fund the defense of illegal immigrants, banning styrofoam containers, getting rid of civil war monuments and authorizing city resources to send 60 busloads of student activists to last year’s David Hogg lead anti-Second Amendment rally in D.C.

But it could be that her political future has just suffered an end of life experience thanks to a massive political scandal that has now detonated like a bombshell and sent Pugh scurrying for cover and taking a leave of absence while citing health issues as the reason.

The real kick in the teeth to taxpayers? She will continue to draw a paycheck for doing nothing.

Via The Daily Wire “Baltimore Mayor Will Take Leave Of Absence For ‘Deteriorating Health’ Amid Book Scandal”:

Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh, a Democrat, will take an indefinite leave of absence — but still collect her $185,000 a year salary — due to her “deteriorating” health.

The Baltimore Sun reported Monday evening that the mayor would be taking leave after coming under fire over the past month for a scandal in which the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) struck a deal with Pugh worth $500,000 for copies of the mayor’s children’s book, which now sit in a warehouse, undistributed.

Pugh was a member of the UMMS board, and had a business deal wherein approximately 100,000 copies of her children’s book, “Healthy Holly,” would be purchased and distributed to schools and daycare centers. About 8,700 of those books now sit in a warehouse owned by the Baltimore school system. A spokeswoman told the Sun that she could not find documentation for the books but that an “unsolicited” shipment was delivered sometime between 2011 and 2013.

Two weeks ago, Pugh resigned from the UMMS board and last week apologized for the deal she made in connection with the books.

“I sincerely want to say that I apologize that I have done something to upset the people of Baltimore,” Pugh said at a press conference on March 28. “I never intended to do anything that could not stand up to scrutiny.”

Tell it to the judge!

That leave of absence may just be of the permanent nature as the state’s Republican governor has moved to request a “formal investigation” into Mayor Pugh.

According to Baltimore CBS affiliate WJZ-13:

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan is asking the state prosecutor to launch a formal investigation into Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh’s sales of children’s books to the University of Maryland Medical Center while she was a board member.

In a letter to the state prosecutor Hogan said, “These are deeply disturbing allegations. I am particularly concerned about the UMMS sale because it has significant continuing ties with the State and receives very substantial public funding.”

Will Pugh face justice despite being a cog in the corrupt national Democratic party machine?

It’s hard to be optimistic considering what just went down in Chicago when crooked Dems let hate crime hoaxer Jussie Smollett off the hook but decent citizens of Baltimore can be forgiven for hoping that the day of reckoning for this charlatan is coming.

Unfortunately, so are the cries of racism.
