A piece of crap basketball coach set a shining example for his team of high school age players to follow. He cold-cocked an elderly referee after he allegedly called him a racial slur.
Michigan AAU basketball coach arrested on charges of assaulting Paducah referee
An AAU basketball coach was arrested and jailed Saturday night on charges of assault of a sports official during a tournament in Paducah, Kentucky.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff Office’s Facebook page, Keyon Menifield, 40, of Flint, Michigan, assaulted a referee at the Paducah Regional Sports Plex.
The referee has been identified as Kenny Culp of Paducah.
KaSondra Barnett, Culp’s niece, posted on Facebook that her uncle was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, and is being treated for a broken collarbone, a crack in his sinus cavity and a concussion or bruise on his brain with bleeding.
“During the disagreement the referee turned to walk away,” the McCracken County Sheriff Office’s Facebook post read. “As he did, Menifield punched the referee, knocking him unconscious, causing minor injuries. Menifield then fled the area prior to Deputies arrival. Menifield was quickly located at a local hotel and taken into custody.”
Menifield was arrested and lodged in McCracken County Regional Jail. First offense assault of a sports official is a Class A misdemeanor, the Facebook post said.
You sucker punch an old man in the face, hitting him so hard that his sinus cavity is cracked and all you get is a misdemeanor charge? Not to mention all the other injuries he suffered apparently as the result of his fall. I mean just look what this asshole did to this guy:
McCracken County Sheriff Matt Carter told The Paducah Sun an investigation of the incident is ongoing.
“The initial charge was made prior to any medical evaluation that could enter into the equation to ensure that the most accurate charge was in place,” Carter told The Paducah Sun. “We will follow the law and charge in accordance to what the law will allow. Obviously, we’re not going to undercharge this guy if there is a more severe charge that can be placed on him.”
There HAS to be a more severe charge. Hate crime. Reverse the situation and they’d be all over it, so lay it on him!
Not making excuses for his violent behavior, but then making excuses for his violent behavior, bag of shit Menifield then headed to Facebook where he, inevitably, played the race card in a semi-literate rant.
“Man listen buddy called us a name he shouldn’t have but that doesn’t make it right for me to put my hands on him ! Now all the racist people who are he’s friends are calling me the same thing but he didn’t say it yea right but anyway I could careless about the outside world I just want to First apologize to the victim, my parents and kids and the tournament director and the victim family ! I’m going to continue living my life y’all mad I’m posting pics like I think it’s a joke I haven’t made 1 joke about Buddy I pray for a speedy recovery , stating the obvious I’ve admitted to punching him but did I mean to cause any injury know ! That’s the last I’m go speak on it ,I”
Ebonics at it’s best. “Buddy?” I thought his name was Kenny, and I’m fairly certain he’s not your friend so what’s with the use of the insulting name? “He called us a name he shouldn’t have.” Although he doesn’t say what said name was, it’s clearly implied that, if we are to believe Menifield (which I don’t), it was some sort of racial slur. True or not, his use of the race card here will doubtless win him the sympathy of liberals and blacks everywhere. I just can’t believe that it’s true because why would a racist want to officiate a game dominated by blacks? And he was only paid $20 to do it.
I’m not Kenny’s friend, so I won’t call you the same thing all his “racist friends” did. But I will just call you what you are. You are a worthless steaming pile of shit who has no business having any authority over children. You belong behind bars with the rest of the animals.
