There’s A ‘Socialist Netflix’ And No It’s Not Free

Putting the word “socialist” in front of another word is a great indicator that it is a worse version of that thing. A socialist society is a society without liberty, hope, or toilet paper. A socialist democrat is a democrat who wants to take even more of your money and freedom. It turns out there is also a socialist Netflix and it offers absolutely no interesting program whatsoever. What makes this hilarious is, the socialist streaming service isn’t free. Socialism is so terrible that socialists can’t even get socialism right.

Here’s a dumb thing from The Detroit Free Press:

A young Detroit couple who helped controversial New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez win election last year as a democratic socialist are now launching a pro-socialism media company from their house on the city’s east side.

Their company, Means TV, is an Internet-only web streaming service that, for a monthly $10 subscription, would offer entertainment programming with “pro-worker” and “anti-capitalist” viewpoints, including original TV shows, talk shows, comedy sketches, reality TV and on-the-ground reporting.

Ten bucks a month? What kind of capitalist bullshit is that? This should be free to everyone. Streaming horrible content is basic human right like gender reassignment surgery, liberal arts degrees, and tampons.

You just knew this had to be AOC-related, didn’t you? The only difference between Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Means TV is that she’s actually entertaining. Not on purpose, but she says the most asinine things and then flips out screaming “racism” when people try to correct her ignorance. Actually, these socialists would be onto something if the had wall-to-wall AOC programming, but that’s not what they have planned.

And in actuality, they don’t have any programming. Zero. Nothing.

The service is the brainchild of filmmakers Naomi Burton, 29, and Nick Hayes, 22, a girlfriend-boyfriend duo who gained national attention last year for producing a campaign video for Ocasio-Cortez that went viral and helped to propel the formerly unknown candidate to an upset Democratic primary victory.

Means TV began releasing preview videos last month and Burton and Hayes are aiming to raise $500,000 through the website by May 30. That amount could finance an initial year of programming, which would roll out late this year or early 2020, they said.

So they’ve launched a streaming service but won’t have anything on it it until maybe 2020? I changed my mind, this is socialist as hell. They expect people to pay money to get nothing in return. That sums up socialism very nicely.

The service would use edgy VICE Media-style videos and a Netflix-type on-demand model to capture the attention of millennials and members of the younger Generation Z, who may feel dissatisfied with where they think society is headed and aren’t familiar with other economic systems.

“Our future is almost guaranteed to be worse than the future of our parents,” said Burton. “When I talk to young people, especially those who have come from poverty, there is no hope for a better future.”

Nothing instills hope in people like an oppressive socialist society, amiright? Remember all of those pictures of happy commies behind the Iron Curtain? And who can forget how positive and uplifted Venezuelans look as they wait in a breadline for 3 days? I swear the Czechs had smiles on their faces as the Soviet tanks rolled over them to crush their foolish desire to be free.

Much like how every single attempt at a socialist society has collapsed, this socialist Netflix is doomed to fail. The really cool thing about capitalism is that crap ideas get flushed.
