Guns ‘N Roses Bassist Has A New Song About Gun Control

If there’s anyone with more worthless opinions on things and junk than Hollywood actors it’s burned-out aging rockers. Guns ‘N Roses bassist Duff McKagan has a new solo album nobody cares about and it features a gun control song about the Parkland, Florida school shooting. Duff doesn’t actually know what to do about school shootings, but he’s pretty sure it’s the NRA’s fault.

McKagan did an interview with Yahoo! about his upcoming album which has a song called “Parkland.” He apparently was playing 2 chords in the studio when he heard about the February 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida and put some lyrics to it:

Do we have to watch another mother cry, once again/Do we gotta see another school kid die/No, not again

I’m not a poet, but I do know you can’t rhyme “again” with “again.”

In any case, McKagan was moved to make this song:

“It’s beyond heartbreaking to look at the list [of school shootings over the years], and this thing’s going on, on the TV. And that song just came out of me… I was trying to pay respect and be earnest about a very serious situation, especially as an American, this particularly American thing,” said McKagan.

“I have daughters. ….When you’re fearful of your kids going to school, something’s f***ed up. When you see your school’s got armed guards when you walk your kids to school — we walk to school — something’s f***ed up. This is a school. And as a dad, as a human, just a f***ing human, anybody.”

Taking a cue for every liberal gun-grabber ever, McKagan insists this song isn’t about gun control: “[Parkland is] not a commentary on the Second Amendment; it’s not a commentary on gun owners. But it’s a commentary, I think, on if there’s national emergencies that we’re gonna call out, this one should’ve been called out some time ago.”

And while McKagan is all worked up about gun control, he doesn’t exactly have any ideas on the issue:

“I don’t know what the answer is, but I sure would love to explore an answer. I don’t care if you’re in the deepest, darkest corners of the NRA, or the most progressive whatever; something’s gotta be done. I don’t know what it is, but I hope with [the new album], I can get involved with some organizations and [use] what minimal platform I have to do something,” McKagan said.

Okay, the NRA occupies the “darkest corners” and something must be done about private gun ownership. Guess what? Duff McKagan is calling for some kind of gun control that would strip Americans of their gun ownership rights. The fact that he claims this position isn’t about the 2nd Amendment shows that he’s on the liberal side of the issue. Every democrat who has ever proposed a gun control bill claimed they were respecting the 2nd Amendment. The only difference with McKagan is that his brain is too fried for him to come up with any policy specifics.

Making this even more idiotic, McKagan compared liberal hysteria over gun ownership and school shootings to the 9/11 Islamic terrorist attacks:

“I think after 9/11, here in America, I saw something extraordinary. I saw neighbors looking after neighbors. I don’t think anybody asked who anybody voted for. It was people taking care of other people. At the grocery store, everywhere you go, people were like, ‘Are you OK? Is everything cool here?’ Looking around, taking care of each other. And that’s the America I know. That’s the one I choose to see throughout all this stuff that we’re experiencing right now, all this hyped-up tension and news and crap. F** that,” said McKagan.

What he’s trying to say is that the country came together to address the threat of terrorism following 9/11 so we should do the same thing to address that pesky 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

That’s a pretty shitty sentiment, but it’s also just plain stupid. Following 9/11 we took concrete steps to stop terrorists from hijacking planes and flying them into buildings. We beefed up airport security to keep scumbags from sneaking weapons onto planes. We packed those planes with undercover armed air marshals. The effort was successful as no planes have been hijacked in the 18 years since 9/11.

If we took that same steps with our schools, there wouldn’t be any school shootings either. If there were security to enter the schools and armed law enforcement and teachers, not one single coward would pick a school for a mass shooting. No stomping on civil rights necessary.

McKagan is a little crispy but what he’s pushing for is some kind of action that would infringe on our 2nd Amendment rights. The fact that he has no ideas or opinions on the issue should have stopped him from writing a song on gun control, but how are entertainers supposed to feel important if they aren’ constantly spewing bullshit they know nothing about?
