The media love affair with Pete Buttigieg is about to become even more torrid now that the mayor of smallish South Bend, Indiana is flexing his socialist muscles.
Buttigieg or as he is affectionately known as “Mayor Pete” has scored major points with the media which sees his open homosexuality as being the top qualifier for the presidency and ohhh, that hunky hubby who would become the nation’s first First Lady with a package (apologies to Michelle Obama) to take up residence in the White House.
But while Mayor Pete – or as President Trump has nicknamed him, Alfred E. Neumann – is long on media coverage his complete lack of specific policies has had some pointing out that he is just another one of those manufactured candidates or empty suits that that liberal establishment has routinely cranked out.
Now Buttigieg has added a policy section to his website Pete For America and in an appeal to the lunatic social justice freaks, has thrown as sop to resentful blacks and young anti-liberal zealots with his idea that it’s time to cleanse the nation of founding father and third POTUS, Thomas Jefferson.
The war on statues is back with a vengeance.
Via The Washington Free Beacon, “Buttigieg on Renaming Things Named After Thomas Jefferson: ‘It’s the Right Thing to Do’”:
Pete Buttigieg, who is running in a crowded Democratic field for president, said on Friday he believes renaming events and things named after President Thomas Jefferson is the “right thing to do.”
The South Bend mayor appeared on The Hugh Hewitt Show, where he was asked to weigh in on the name of the annual Indiana Democratic dinner, which was formerly named after party founders and former presidents Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson. Indiana Democrats changed the name of the annual dinner in 2016.
“Well, let’s go to policy now—a very blunt question because you talk about going to every Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in Indiana when you were running statewide. Should Jefferson-Jackson dinners be renamed everywhere because both were holders of slaves?” Hewitt asked.
“Yeah, we’re doing that in Indiana. I think it’s the right thing to do,” Buttigieg said. “Over time, you develop and evolve on the things you choose to honor … Jefferson is more problematic. There’s a lot of course to admire in his thinking and his philosophy, but then again if you plunge into his writings, especially the notes on the state of Virginia, you know that he knew slavery was wrong.”
Like other Dems, America’s gay darling has been hit by the entry of former Vice President Joe Biden into the presidential field and “Boot Edge Edge” needs to keep the fire burning, especially with Sleepy Joe going out of his way to pander to blacks, a critical demographic who the party’s electoral hopes are contingent on.
More of the policies from the son of an avowed Marxist professor that are now available on Pete For America: free healthcare, free college, unrestricted abortion and reparations.
Where have you heard those before?
