After years of losing market share McDonald’s finally got some good financial news: Bill de Blasio is boycotting the fast food franchise, which can only mean more people will eat there to spite the NYC Mayor. As part of his disastrous 2020 presidential campaign roll-out, de Blasio says he won’t eat at McDonald’s until they pay their workers $15 an hour. When reached for comment Ronald McDonald replied, “who?”
The New York Post reports:
Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a union rally in Des Moines, Iowa Thursday that he and his presidential campaign team — all six of them — are going to boycott McDonald’s until the fast food chain pays a $15 minimum wage to its workers.
“We’re not going to McDonald’s anymore until McDonald’s addresses these issues! No one from my campaign is going to McDonald’s anymore until McDonald’s respects working people,” said de Blasio.
Paying people minimum wage to cook fries and flip burgers is respecting them because if McDonald’s has to shell out $15 an hour for this unskilled labor they are going to replace all of the humans with robots.
It’s not like de Blasio and his 6-person boycott means shit, but he thinks it does, so his real message is: “I’m going to fight for working people by putting them out of a job.” His intention is to hurt McDonald’s financially, which would result in employees being laid off. What a dick. Good thing the economic impact of a de Blasio boycott is about the same as the impact of his presidential campaign.
But why only McDonald’s? No fast food chains pay $15 an hour, so why isn’t he boycotting them all? Come to think of it, how many restaurants or establishments pay low-skilled workers this much? If he had any integrity he’d boycott every single place that doesn’t overpay its workers, which is pretty much every single place that exists.
De Blasio has boycotted another fast food joint to equally unimpressive results. Back in 2016 he boycotted Chick-fil-A:

The popular chicken restaurant is planning to open up a new location in Queens, its fourth to open in New York City.
But the liberal mayor argued that the owners of Chick fil-A support groups that promote “hate” against gays.
“Chick-fil-A is anti-LGBT,” he said…
“This group imparts a strong anti-LGBT message by forcing their employees and volunteers to adhere to a policy that prohibits same-sex love. It is outrageous that Chick-fil-A is quietly spreading its message of hate by funding these types of organizations,” said de Blasio.
None of that is remotely true, but whatever.
“I’m certainly not going to patronize them and I wouldn’t urge any other New Yorker to patronize them,” de Blasio said.
BTW that Chick-fil-A in Queens, like all of their locations, opened to lines around the block. It’s been 3 years since de Blasio’s boycott and Chick-fil-A has done nothing but kick ass. Is it possible that a Bill de Blasio boycott doesn’t carry as much clout as Bill de Blasio thinks it does?
Meanwhile, as de Blasio is busy boycotting fast food restaurants, likely democratic voters are boycotting his presidential campaign. He was ranked as the least liked democrat in the field of 2020 hopefuls, is polling at 0%, and more democrats would vote for Trump than him.
