Did you know there was a Broadway play about Hillary Clinton? Me neither and now it’s closing early so I only get one chance to make fun of it. Why didn’t somebody mention this atrocity before? In any case, this Hillary play is shutting down because absolutely no one is willing to pay money to go see it. It’s kind of like Bill and Hillary’s speaking tour with the only difference being the Broadway play knows when it’s time to end it.
Honestly I’m shocked I never heard about this thing before. The liberal media usually hyperventilates at anything Hillary-related. Plus, the play titled Hilary and Clinton, has some pretty big name stars with Laurie Metcalf playing Hillary and John Lithgow doing a Bill impersonation.
Here’s how The Hollywood Reporter describes the play:
Hillary and Clinton takes place in a New Hampshire hotel room in 2008, imagining interactions between Hillary and Bill Clinton as she struggles with her campaign during the 2008 presidential election, with her chief opponent, Barack Obama, gaining steam.
I wonder if Hillary and Bill are discussing starting the “birtherism” rumors that Obama was a secret Muslim who was born in Kenya. That would be lit. Or maybe it’s Bill talking about how a guy like Obama should be fetching him coffee.
Sadly I don’t get the impression it is nearly that interesting and it will be closing early:
The Broadway production of Hillary and Clinton will close one month early. Producer Scott Rudin on Monday announced that the Lucas Hnath play, which stars Laurie Metcalf and John Lithgow in the title roles, will have its final performance Sunday.
The early closing date for Hillary and Clinton is due to underwhelming ticket sales. The play, which cost $4.2 million to produce, began performances in March and drew mixed-to-positive reviews, but has struggled to fill seats, reaching only 36 percent of its gross potential…
Hillary Clinton underperforming? I never heard of such a thing.
Also, is it ironic that the real Hillary Clinton has reached 100% of her potential grossness?
I don’t know about Metclaf’s performance, but it seems like Lithgow did a great job playing Bill. Here he is without any pants, just like the real former president:
Seriously, why he ain’t got no pants?
Clearly this play is a snooze-fest, but I think the casting was all wrong as well. Metcalf and Lithgow are great actors but they are completely wring for the parts. They should have got Zach Galifianakis to play Hillary and Larry The Cable Guy for Bill. Then, instead of the 2008 campaign, it should have been about the night in 2016 at the Zavits Center when Hillary realized Donald Trump just kicked her saggy ass. The potential for comedy would have been limitless:
“American voters are re-tards,” said Hillary.
“Git-r-done,” replied Bill.
Actually, if the play skipped around to all the big moments in Clinton history it would have done better. They could have covered all of Bill’s affairs and sexual assaults, with Hillary not giving a shit. Bill could have walked in as Hillary was “suiciding” Vince Foster and the next scene Hillary walks in on Bill molesting Monica Lewinski with a cigar. Then they could say in unison, “why does this keep happening?”
This play closing early due to shitty ticket sales is just another reminder to Hillary that this country is sick and tired of her. Nobody wants her to be president, nobody wants to pay to see her complain about losing the election, and they don’t even want to see some top-notch actors pretending to be her.
