Dem Establishment Tries To Call Off The Dogs Over Biden’s ‘Racist’ Gaffe

It’s a long way until the Democratic party crowns a nominee next July in Milwaukee but from the looks of things, there may not be much left of frontrunner Joe Biden by the time that he gets there.

In their fervor to be the most woke candidate in the competition, those who are dueling with the former vice president for the honor of being shellacked by President Trump next November have already gotten nasty as the knives have come out early.

There has been obvious resentment over the media’s promotion of lunchbucket Joe as the nominee in waiting without even the formalities of debates and primaries and opportunistic bottom feeders have seized on Biden’s gaffe at fundraiser where he waxed nostalgic about the good old days when he yucked it up with pro-segregation Dem senators back when he was in the early years of what would turn into a lifelong tenure in the great D.C. swamp.

Having already been hit for his creepy touching and hair sniffing of women without their consent, Biden blundered into a buzzsaw when on the eve of the grotesque spectacle of the House reparations hearings, he heaped praise on James Eastland and Herman Talmadge who were staunch advocates of the Jim Crow era.

Easily combustible hothead Cory Booker was triggered and went for sloppy Joe’s throat, all but accusing the man who is seen by many as the best shot of Dems being able to appeal to moderates of racism. It was clearly an attempt by the flammable New Jersey senator to climb out of Amy Klobuchar territory and soon the attacks were joined by other candidates who are looking to bring Biden down a peg or two.

But such histrionics at such an early stage have set off alarm bells and establishment Democrats are begging for the 2020 contestants to call off the dogs on the ex-veep which is going to elicit accusations that the fix is already in just like it was for Hillary in 2016 when the DNC actively worked to cheat Bernie Sanders out of the nomination.

Via The Hill, “Democrats want White House hopefuls to cool it on Biden attacks”:

Lawmakers fear the 2020 Democratic presidential primary field is becoming a circular firing squad, with Trump winding up as the beneficiary of internecine fighting.

“I think everybody is picking on him, press as well as others. He’s the front-runner so he’s the one to shoot down, so to speak,” said Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who served with Biden for years in the Senate.

“I think it’s a little unexpected, I don’t think he has figured for this,” she said of the attacks from fellow Democrats, namely Booker tacitly calling into question Biden’s commitment to civil rights.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), who represents a key early primary state, said, “I think it’s not helpful to Democrats to attack each other at this stage.”

Sen. Doug Jones (D-Ala.) said the real “point” of Biden’s comments was that “when you’re sitting next to a Senate colleague, especially someone who at the time was in his own party, you’ve got to work together. You’ve got to figure out and find some common ground.”

It’s not likely that pleas for mercy on Biden are going to dissuade either Booker or Kamala Harris who like Barack Obama feel that they are entitled to the black vote by virtue of their skin color nor any of the bottom feeders who would get rare headlines with outrageous attacks on the frontrunner.

This already has all the makings of a catastrophe for the entire Democratic party, a collection of squabbling identity tribes who have only been held together by the glue of their mutual hatred of Trump and rejection of the results of a legitimate election.

All bets are off now.
