Wesley Hoseclaw: An Example of the Broken Justice System

No, the justice system is not broken because of the bullshit claims of liberals about “systematic racism,” etc. It’s broken because it continuously apprehends repeat offenders for crimes and then releases them back out into the general population to commit even more crimes.

Here’s just one example for you. For instance, yesterday in Oregon one Wesley Hoseclaw (yes, Hoseclaw) was arrested yet again. Mr. Hoseclaw is a registered sex offender. What were his charges this time? Surprise, surprise, surprise! Parole violation – attempted rape, resisting arrest. and criminal trespass.

Hosebag, Wesley Hoseclaw.

So what? Attempted rape? Happens every day, right? So why am I using this creep as an example here? Because I know him. No, I don’t hang out with this degenerate, but I had a run-in with him in my store about a year ago.

One day, I was walking down the sidewalk from the office to the store when a passing, apparently homeless guy, stopped me. He asked, “Do you know if you hold a person under the water just until the bubbles stop then pull them out and stomp on their stomach really hard it will make them think more clearly than they ever have?”

Obviously I was dealing with a nut case. I feigned interest and smiled. “No. I didn’t know that! Thanks.” So I continued on into the store, leaving Wesley to go on his merry way. Or so I thought.

A bit later, this dirt bag staggered in off the street and started helping himself to the free samples of food that we offer, afterwards approaching a female customer and preaching the word of God as only Wesley understands it.

I was preparing more food to put out for purchase when he threatening approached me and demanded that I give him one of the food items I had in front of me. That’s called “menacing,” a crime Wesley is particularly fond of according to an article I found about him in the Mail Tribune. It cites his numerous cases of menacing.” Not one to be easily menaced, I refused his demand. He moved closer, became more threatening, and said, “Give me one!” I said, “Dude, no. I’m not giving you anything.” He grumbled and left.

This time I wanted to make sure he didn’t come back so I followed him around a corner to where there was a series of picnic benches for people to eat. Members of the homeless population can often be found there. I was right, but I was too late. Wesley was not there, at least not there any longer. Another employee noticed the bum there and told him to leave. Wesley began spewing verbal threats at him so the employee dialed 911. We headed back to the store only to see through the window that Wesley was back inside, at the cash register conversing with a female employee. “Oh, shit! He’s gonna rob the place!” As I ran in the front door to see what was happening, the local police came in through the back.

Turns out Wesley wasn’t robbing the store, but he was asking for . . . demanding more . . . free stuff. It also turns out the officers knew him quite well. “Hey, Wesley. How you doing today?” They warned him not to come back or he would be arrested for trespassing and sent him on his way.

Great. But why not arrest the guy for menacing again? Then again, the better question is why would they? He’s just going to be released again. See, Wesley, or “The Dread Pirate Roberts” (think The Princess Bride) as I dubbed him after the event, has been arrested at least 100 times in the past six years!  And this is after he was convicted of attempted rape in 2012. An article written about him in 2018 states that, “Since 1988, he has amassed a list of court cases that, when printed out, runs to 3½ pages.”

The cases started as a string of traffic tickets, morphed into a long list of disorderly conduct and trespassing behavior that alarmed the public, then took a more serious turn when Hoseclaw was convicted of attempted rape in 2012, court records show.

Numerous cases of menacing, disorderly conduct and failing to register as a sex offender followed, according to court records.

In a recent incident in December 2017, Hoseclaw was arrested after allegedly chasing people at a bar with a stick and swinging it at them. He has a trial scheduled for March 28, according to court records.

People with untreated chronic, severe mental illness or with a gradually worsening addiction often have criminal record patterns of early driving-related violations, followed by low-level misdemeanor crimes and then a growing number of serious felonies.

Sickler said Hoseclaw likely has mental health issues and needs intervention.

In jail there are opportunities for our mental health folks to talk to him and treat him,” Sickler said.”

Look, I understand that mental illness is a legitimate issue, but when it has escalated into a “number of serious felonies,” how is that even allowed to happen? He doesn’t need treatment, he’s a rapist. He needs to be put down. How is it that this puke, like so many others, keeps getting put back in circulation? The article those quotes are from was written on March 4th, 2018 about part of a plan to keep animals like Wesley in jail longer. Yet since 2019, ol’ rapey Wesley has been booked into the same correctional facility seven more times. Considering the guy is a vagrant, who knows how many other times he’s been locked up and let go?

So how’s that plan working out for you?
