American hero and Texas U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw made NY Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez look like an absolute fool in an argument over gun control today. Sure, AOC is unquestionably one of the dumbest people in the country and it’s kind of unfair to take on an unarmed person in a battle of wits, but Ocasio-Cortez picked the fight to begin with.
This starts out with Crenshaw sharing a story of a woman who repelled 5 attackers with a handgun:

For some weird reason, AOC was offered by this woman saving her life and Crenshaw’s explanation as to why universal background checks are a bad idea:
You are a member of Congress. Why are you “lending” guns to people unsupervised who can’t pass a basic background check?

Did you notice that AOC accused Crenshaw’s friends of being wife beaters and felons? Crenshaw noticed:

At this point AOC should have just taken the loss, but that ain’t how stupid people roll, so she responded with a demonstration of her lack of cognitive and reading comprehension skills:

If a background check would be a problem, then you shouldn’t “lend” a gun.
And btw, NY is one of the safest states in the country when it comes to guns, incl rural areas.

There’s an awful lot of stupid going on here, so let’s just dive in. The House, of which AOC is a member, passed a universal background check bill, which would make it illegal to lend a gun to a friend without a performing a background check. Right now, you can let your buddy take one of your guns to the range no problem. Under this bill that AOC voted for, you would have to go to a federally licensed gun dealer, pay a fee, and get a background check, to legally transfer the gun to your friend. Then, after the range, your friend would have to repeat the process with more fees and background checks, to return the gun to you.
AOC doesn’t even understand what the bill she voted for means. She thinks that Crenshaw wouldn’t be able to lend a gun to his friends under this because they are domestic abusers and otherwise prohibited persons. A universal background check bill means that any transfer of a firearm must be accompanied by a background check. No lending a gun to buddy to go hunting, target shooting, or for protection is allowed.
AOC keeps the stupid going because she failed to notice Crenshaw specifically said this is what the world looks like outside of NYC, which stands for “New York City.” In her witless response she says that rural upstate New York is very safe. Again, Crenshaw didn’t say New York state, nor did he even mention the safety level of NYC, he simply stated that people outside of that liberal bastion own guns and sometimes lend them to each other.
She punctuated her stupidity with the snarky line, “Try to keep up” like it was Crenshaw who was too stupid to understand what was going on. When you are 100% wrong and try to dunk on someone, it makes you look even stupider.
She may want to go back and reread all of Crenshaw’s tweets as well as a bill that she voted for to figure out who it is that needs to keep up. Then again, she’s an idiot so it probably wouldn’t matter.
AOC definitely lost this battle of the wits, but on the bright side being a dimwit means you do have a certain type of wit.
