The petulant children of the left continue their temper tantrum against America. A school teacher from New York has launched a hunger strike for gun control and says she won’t eat another meal until Congress abolishes the 2nd Amendment and takes away our gun ownership rights. Conventional wisdom says this lady is a goner because the Republicans in the Senate won’t pass any gun control and the democrats in the House are too busy staging a coup to pass gun control. Don’t worry, this hunger strike is almost certainly a hoax and this woman’s life is in no danger.
The Guardian reports on this silliness with a tremendous amount of fake news:
A New York teacher has launched a hunger strike to protest the US Congress’ inaction on gun regulations, hoping it will spur lawmakers into passing “common sense gun control”.
Shai Stephenson, who works at a school in the Bronx, started eating one meal a day in earlySeptember, and transitioned to a liquid diet on 1 October. She began her strike following the deadly mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, which left 32 people dead within a single August weekend.
Eating a meal a day or having a liquid diet is not a hunger strike, it’s a “reduced calorie intake strike” which isn’t even a thing. That’s hardly the worst part of that last paragraph however. According to The Guardian, Stephenson started her pseudo hunger strike in early September right after the shootings in El Paso and Dayton. Those shootings took place of August 3 and 4, a full month before this kook began her empty gesture.
And there was even more fake news to go along with this fake story:
Stephenson says she will continue her hunger strike until she sees a “good faith effort from the government in the direction of keeping the public safe”. In particular, she’s urging lawmakers to take up the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019 which passed through the majority democratic Senate more than seven months ago. (emphasis mine)
Well no, the U.S. Senate has a Republican majority and it never passed a gun control bill of any kind 7 months ago.
With such a lack of attention to detail what are the chances that this woman is really on a hunger strike for gun control? The answer is somewhere are 0%.
Does this look like a woman who stopped eating almost 2 months ago?
That’s an awful lot of junk in the trunk for someone who has been on a 2-month hunger strike. She should be emaciated and on the verge of death but instead appears to be slightly overweight. Sure, she was a sad face in the picture, but liberals are sad about everything and that doesn’t prove she’s not eating.
There are other clues to this being a complete load of crap as well: If she is honestly engaging in a hunger strike for gun control, why didn’t she let anyone know about it until the end of October. The only way a hunger strike works is if people know about it and this has been anonymous for nearly 2 months.

While her hunger strike has yet to get national attention, she says that the support she is getting from her co-workers, family, and local community is helping her continue her demonstration.
If the goal is to get Congress to pass gun control legislation or she’ll starve herself to death, isn’t it kind of important that Congress be aware of her two-year-old-style temper tantrum?
As it turns out, Stephenson isn’t quite willing to die for this.
“I’m going to keep plugging away until something changes or [this hunger is] hurting me too much,” said Stephenson.
Oh, so she’s on a hunger strike until Congress passes gun control or she gets hungry enough to eat. Again, this is not a hunger strike.
This is clearly a leftist media fake news attempt to create sympathy for unconstitutional gun control. They are throwing this lady out there as a martyr, hoping to play on peoples’ emotions. Too bad it so sloppy that it’ll be even less effective than Stephenson’s faux hunger strike.
