MLB Investigating Umpire For Supporting President Trump And The 2nd Amendment

In the NBA they’re not allowed to support Hong Kong protesters fighting for human rights, but in Major League baseball they’re banned from supporting the President of the United States and the 2nd Amendment. MLB is investigating a veteran umpire for expressing his support for President Trump and suggesting he may purchase an AR-15. If you think this is shocking, you’re missing the big picture: there’s finally something interesting about the sport of baseball.

Rob Drake has been a major league umpire since 1999 and has worked post-season and all-star games. According to ESPN, MLB is investigating him, whatever the hell that means, because of a couple of tweets he sent and then deleted.

The first tweet reportedly read:

“You can’t do an impeachment inquiry from the basement of Capital Hill without even a vote! What is going on in this country?”

And the second read:

“I will be buying an AR-15 tomorrow, because if you impeach MY PRESIDENT this way, YOU WILL HAVE ANOTHER CIVAL WAR!!! #MAGA2020”

ESPN says that MLB commissioner Rob Manfred has confirmed that the league is aware of Drake’s tweets and is “looking into it.” Why? ESPN never got an answer to that.

Drake is an American citizen who supports the President as well as his Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. How is this controversial and worthy of an investigation?

Is it because he suggested he’s ready for a Civil War if the democrats unlawfully impeach President Trump? This is the exact reason why our Founding Fathers wrote the 2nd Amendment. An armed populace is part of the checks and balances of the Constitution. People with guns keeps the government from becoming oppressive and tyrannical.

If the democrats impeach President Trump for no particular reason, as they are trying to do, that is an abuse of power and the people have the right to rise up against it. Should the democrats be successful in removing President Trump from office, that would be a coup and the government would then be illegitimate. The American people have every right to oppose this. No, check that, they have a duty to oppose it.

For a league full of substance abusers, wife-beaters, and illegal aliens, it’s weird that MLB is deeply concerned about a patriotic Umpire expressing his support for American institutions like the president and the Constitution.

Know your fan base, morons. Remember the hit the NFL took for backing Colin Kaepernick and kneeling during the National Anthem? This is potentially worse and so will the response be.

Millennials and Gen Z-ers don’t really like sports and baseball is the least exciting of all major league sports in this country. Baseball can’t really afford to alienate their existing fans because the next generations aren’t going to replace the asses currently in the seats.

If MLB was stupid enough to fire umpire Rob Drake over his support for Trump and gun ownership there would be considerable backlash. They may still retain fans in the big liberal cities, but fans in the rest of the country would walk away in disgust.

The correct response here from MLB is to announce that they too support America and its institutions and leave it at that. Anything else is going to cost them fans, money, and relevancy. There’s no money to be made in liberal hysteria, TDS, or caving to the progressive propaganda machine. Woke equals broke every single time.
