Body Cam Theater! Today’s Episode: “Running With Scissors”

Mom always said, “Don’t run with scissors. One Shannon Rupert, a crazed woman in Louisiana would have done well to heed that advice. Instead, she ignored it, attacked a cop and wound up as a budding starlet on BCT. Unfortunately for her, this is her first and last appearance.

I woke up early today because of the time change so I was able to get this quick body cam posted for your enjoyment before I go off to work.

DA clears Bossier City officer in fatal shooting; department releases bodycam footage

BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) — The Bossier Parish district attorney says the police officer who fatally shot a woman last week was justified.

And the Bossier City Police Department has released video of the moments leading to her death.

District Attorney Schuyler Marvin sent a letter to Police Chief Shane McWilliams on Monday saying the district attorney’s office spoke with BCPD investigators and reviewed the videos.

“Based on all evidence reviewed, it is my firm opinion that no crime was committed by the officer as his actions constituted justifiable homicide,” Marvin wrote in the letter.

It was Friday, Oct. 25, when Officer Patrick Edmonds Jr. responded to a disturbance at LaQuinta Inn on Preston Boulevard in Bossier City.

Shannon Rupert was in the hotel lobby and had a pair of scissors that she refused to drop when the officer repeatedly told her to do so, police say.

Crazy lady: Shannon Rupert

Video from the officer’s body camera and the hotel’s security system show Rupert behind the hotel’s reception desk waving what looks like scissors while talking on the phone.

You can hear the officer repeatedly tell Rupert to put the scissors down.

Rupert “aggressively approached the officer with scissors in hand” before Edmonds fired two shots at Rupert’s chest, according to the Police Department.

The video evidence does show Rupert coming around the counter while Edmonds says, “If you come over here I will kill you.”

“OK, kill me,” Rupert responds as she moves in the officer’s direction, scissors in hand.

KSLA News 12 has made the body camera video available to view in this story so you can see the moments leading up to the fatal shooting.

We paused the video just before the shooting but continued playing the audio. The video was edited to remove some sensitive language and sound.

Perhaps they feel that we, as adults can’t handle anything remotely obscene or violent. Be not afraid! Def-Con News has found a completely unedited version of the video because we believe in the public’s right to know. Plus, the thugette performs some awesome gymnastics after getting shot that you won’t want to miss.

Bang! Bang! Splat! But did you see that somersault she did for us? Nice! You’ll get the best view of her tumbling skills at 2:37 in the video.

No word on whether she fell on the scissors she was running with. That was always mom’s concern. But now we’ve discovered another danger involved with scissors. Parents warn your children.
