I missed this one while on vacation so it’s a few days old but still a pretty good shooting although the sensors do their best trying to protect our sensitive virgin eyes from seeing the actual carnage. I searched and searched for a video that wasn’t edited to no avail. Anyway, here it is.
Machete-wielding suspect dies after Hollywood officer-involved shooting, LAPD says
HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Los Angeles police shot and killed a person armed with a machete during a confrontation in Hollywood Monday that left an officer injured, the LAPD said.
Dramatic video shows the officer chasing the suspect who was running down the street with a long machete. The officer can be heard shouting commands at the suspect, who then turns around and runs toward the officer with the weapon in his hand.
Several shots were fired by the officer as he backed away from the still-approaching suspect, causing the officer to run into the street and subsequently fall down. Just as the suspect reaches the officer on the ground, two additional officers arrive and one shoots the suspect.
The chain of events was sparked around 11:30 a.m. when the suspect robbed an auto parts store on Highland Avenue near Sunset Boulevard at knifepoint, police said. He then carjacked a vehicle from somebody at a nearby fast food restaurant, eventually crashing into two police cars as he fled from the restaurant.
Officers began chasing the suspect when he exited the vehicle and started running with the machete in hand, eventually culminating in the fatal officer-involved shooting.
Aerial video from AIR7 HD showed firefighter-paramedics placing an injured person on a gurney and into an ambulance about 11:45 a.m. near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue.
A Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson said the wounded suspect was transported to a medical center. A police officer who suffered injuries that were not life-threatening was being treated at the scene.
While asshole ABC News anchor David Muir (I hate that guy) warns us the images are distubing, they are not. They freeze frame it just as the thug gets shot. I find this picture him as he warns us that we might be unsettled more unsettling than the video.

The apparent machete was seen in the middle of the street near a pool of blood. Police said it was more than a foot long.
Poor writing here. Was the machete a foot long or the pool of blood? The picture shows us that they were probably referring to the machete as the blood pool seems considerably larger than one foot. This was probably the spot that Gabriel’s lungs flew out of his chest like Joe Biden said they do.
I figured that as long as they took away our enjoyment of seeing the thug fall, we at least deserved to see a blurry pool of blood.
Those who knew the suspect say he was known on the streets as Gabriel and was young, homeless and troubled.
“He was outside just like us,” said a man who identified himself as Grizzly. “He got wrapped up in the streets and tried to be somebody he was not.”
OK, what? Expert analysis by a man named “Grizzly?” Yes, that’s what we need to hear. Seems to me he was acting exactly like the person he was; a thug.
A section of Sunset Boulevard was closed in both directions due to the investigation.
That and street sweepers had to come clean the boulevard of Gabriel’s bloody lungs and whatever other organs went flying out of his body. Good riddance to another star of BCT.
