There are no spoilers in this article unless you consider the headline a spoiler, in which case it’s too late. A few days ago, Def-Con News reported that a film critic claimed Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker had some kind of gay representation. I just got back from seeing the film and can confirm there is indeed a same-sex kiss that is completely pointless.
Again, I’m trying really hard to give anything away here, so I’m not going to give this scene any context or explanation. I’ll just say that at some point in the movie two ugly old lesbians kiss each other on the mouth. It’s kind of like if Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren were sucking face, which may classify this movie as a horror instead of sci-fi.
This same-sex kiss has absolutely nothing to do with the story and the two lesbians aren’t not in the movie at any other point. There’s something going on and then suddenly: lesbian kiss.
It was about as relevant to the plot and the Star Wars universe in general if they had thrown some illegal alien kids in cages or showed President Trump making a phone call to Ukraine president Zelensky. And that was the actually point of the kiss: to push a liberal agenda.
That being said, the pointless same-sex kiss in no way detracts from what is otherwise and excellent film. If you’re a Star Wars fan, you’ll love this final installment. It does a great job of tying together the previous 8 films and there are a solid 7 “holy shit” moments and reveals.
I suggest you see Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker as soon as possible because there are too many spoilers that you won’t able to avoid. The NY Times already ruined one of them, which I won’t repeat here. I guess being fake news isn’t enough for them, they have to be dick news too.
Hopefully there will be enough backlash over this tacked-on same-sex kiss that Hollywood will stop trying to promote their leftist agenda. People hated Jar-Jar Binks enough that he went away. If fans complain about the pointless lesbian scene, maybe we won’t have to endure similar garbage in future Star Wars projects.
