The bogus House impeachment against Trump was all about reversing the results of a free and fair election but its secondary motivation was a scheme by Nancy Pelosi to steal the President’s power for herself. Since democrats took control of the House their entire agenda has been limiting the President’s Constitutional authority, granting it to themselves. In the latest attempted heist, Speaker Pelosi is seeking to give all foreign policy power to her and the House democrats.
The Hill reports on Pelosi’s latest grand theft larceny plan:
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Monday that the House will consider legislation in the coming weeks to repeal the Trump administration’s travel ban on several predominantly Muslim countries.
Pelosi said that the House would take up legislation authored by Rep. Judy Chu (D-Calif.) to repeal the Trump administration’s travel ban and limit the president from establishing future restrictions unless the administration provides specific evidence to justify it and consults with Congress.
“House Democrats continue to stand opposed to President Trump’s cruel, un-American travel ban in all of its iterations. In the coming weeks, the House Judiciary Committee will mark up and bring to the floor the NO BAN Act to prohibit religious discrimination in our immigration system and limit the President’s ability to impose such biased and bigoted restrictions,” said Pelosi in a statement.
Just in case you aren’t sure this is another attempted power grab by Pelosi and the democrats, here’s bill author Judy Chu saying it explicitly:
“It is essential that we take away the president’s power to put prejudice into policy,” said Chu.
It’s essential that the House democrats take away President Trump’s power? Maybe it’s essential to democrats, but the Constitutional separation of powers begs to differ.
Making this worse is that the Supreme Court ruled on the Constitutionality of President Trump’s travel ban and found it to be okie dokie artichokie. The President has the power to limit travel from hostile terrorist sponsor nations and democrats want to take that away from the executive branch.
The way stuff works here, according to the Constitution, is that Congress makes the laws, the President enforces the laws, and the Supreme Court interprets the constitutionality of the laws. Foreign policy is enforcing the law and SCOTUS has ruled Trump’s enforcement of the law is Constitutionally sound. What Pelosi is hoping to do here is give Congress, and more specifically her, the power to enforce the law and conduct foreign policy. That is a major violation of the separation of powers and something she’d try to impeach Trump over if he ever attempted.
The Hill didn’t say what the “NO BAN” act stands for but I suspect it’s something like:
Nancy
Obtains
Blanket
Authority
Nefariously
The dumbest thing about this, like everything democrats have done under Pelosi’s reign of uselessness, is that it has no chance of passing the Republican-controlled Senate or being signed by President Trump. Once again the House democrats are wasting time passing joke legislation, when they promised they’d be doing things to benefit the American people. Come November, voters will remember how much Pelosi ignored them to push her selfish agenda.
